Responsibilities:

Providing individualized instruction and support to students with blindness or visual impairments Assessing students' needs and developing appropriate learning materials and mobility plans Teaching orientation and mobility skills, including safe and independent travel techniques Adapting classroom and school environments to ensure accessibility for students Preparing students with visual impairments to travel independently and safely Performing evaluations focused on both long- and short-term mobility needs Developing instruction tailored to students' assessed needs, IEP goals and objectives, functioning level, and motivation Preparing and using specialized equipment and materials such as tactile maps, models, optical devices, pre-canes, and GPS devices Instructing students in recreational and leisure skills, outdoor travel, and use of residential and public transportation

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in teaching for the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility PA Orientation and Mobility Specialist certificate
