About the Role As the Founding Personal Training Director, you will lead Municipal's personal training business, coaching culture, and member-results strategy. You will recruit and develop exceptional coaches, create disciplined consultation and client-management practices, and build a premium training experience that earns member trust and delivers sustainable business performance. As a founding leader, you will establish the programming, talent, service, and operating standards that can scale with the Municipal brand.

Personal Training Manager and Personal Trainers Key Outcomes:
First 6-12 Months Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing team of Personal Trainers supported by clear standards, coaching, and tier expectations. Build a consistent member consultation, assessment, recommendation, and follow-up experience that increases training participation and client confidence. Deliver personal training revenue and productivity goals while protecting program quality, ethical recommendations, and long-term member results. Establish operating rhythms, dashboards, education, and quality reviews that support trainer development, client retention, and scalable growth. Core Responsibilities Personal Training Business Leadership Own the personal training department plan and results, translating gym goals into clear team priorities, production expectations, and client-service standards. Lead consultation, assessment, recommendation, conversion, and follow-up practices with consistency and integrity. Monitor revenue, sessions, client load, productivity, pacing, and retention; take timely action when performance is off plan. Partner with the General Manager on program strategy, promotions, events, staffing, and responsible expense management. Coaching Quality & Member Results Set expectations for safe, effective, personalized coaching that supports member goals and reflects the Municipal standard. Create quality-review, education, and observation routines that strengthen trainer capability and consistency. Ensure member goals, programming, progress, and key communication are documented through approved systems and practices. Build a culture of accountability and encouragement where trainers celebrate progress, adapt thoughtfully, and help members

Leadership & Talent Development Recruit, select, onboard, coach, and retain the Personal Training Manager and Personal Trainers. Establish transparent expectations for trainer tiers, development, productivity, professionalism, client service, and advancement. Conduct regular one-on-ones, team huddles, education sessions, and performance reviews; recognize success and address gaps directly. Develop the Personal Training Manager to lead weekend execution, support consultations, and maintain standards when the Director is not present. Build a strong talent bench and document practices that can support future Municipal locations. Member Experience & Cross-Functional Partnership Create a premium, low-pressure consultation and training experience grounded in member needs, trust, expertise, and clear communication. Partner with Membership to connect new members with appropriate fitness support and with Operations to maintain a ready, safe training environment. Respond promptly to client feedback or concerns and coordinate service recovery with the appropriate department leader. Maintain approved records, certifications, schedules, payroll inputs, session documentation, and departmental controls accurately. KPIs / Scorecard Examples Business Growth

- Revenue pacing, reporting accuracy, payroll or session administration, labor, and controllable expenses Qualifications 5+ years of progressive personal training or fitness leadership experience with responsibility for team and business results.
Current nationally recognized personal training certification and CPR/AED certification, or ability to meet company requirements before independently coaching. Demonstrated success recruiting and developing trainers, leading consultations, growing a training business, and improving client retention. Strong knowledge of safe coaching practices, client assessment, program design, behavior change, and service recovery within the scope of the role. Strong communication, sales coaching, organization, and data literacy skills. Comfortable using fitness, scheduling, CRM, reporting, and Microsoft Office tools. Preferred Experience Experience in premium fitness, private training, athletic performance, wellness, private clubs, or another high-touch coaching environment. Experience opening a new location, building a training team, or creating scalable education and quality standards. Advanced fitness, coaching, or performance credentials. Role Requirements Full-time leadership role with availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and key member events as needed. Maintain all required certifications and continuing education throughout employment. Ability to demonstrate exercises, move throughout the gym, stand for extended periods, and lift or move equipment or weights consistent with job duties. Must work within applicable professional scope and follow all approved safety, emergency, documentation, and member privacy practices. Must satisfy all company pre-employment and ongoing employment requirements.
Compensation:
