In this vital role, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring accurate patient care, and maintaining compliance with all pharmaceutical regulations. Your expertise will support safe medication management across various healthcare settings, including hospital, community, and LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacies. Responsibilities Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including sterile IV infusions and compounded medications using aseptic techniques. Manage medication inventory, perform data entry into pharmacy software systems, and ensure proper storage according to regulatory standards. Assist with medication intake, patient consultations, and provide essential patient care support by answering medication-related questions. Maintain strict adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, drug regulation policies, and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards. Support hospital or community pharmacy operations by performing pharmaceutical calculations, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring correct drug dosages. Conduct drug utilization reviews, monitor for potential interactions or contraindications, and ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Participate in medication administration processes, including IV compounding, sterile IV admixture procedures, and aseptic technique practices to ensure safety and efficacy. Utilize pharmacy software for accurate data entry, prescription processing, and inventory management while maintaining meticulous records of all transactions. Uphold high standards of customer service by assisting patients with medication questions and ensuring a positive experience. Follow all safety protocols related to medical terminology, pharmacological terminology, and hospital or community pharmacy procedures. Experience Prior pharmacy technician experience in LTC pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug regulation policies, and medical terminology. Experience with IV infusion preparation, sterile compounding techniques, and aseptic procedures is essential. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems used for prescription processing and inventory management. Proven ability to maintain patient confidentiality while adhering to strict privacy regulations. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to pharmaceutical practice are advantageous. Strong understanding of state healthcare regulations and federal pharmacy laws governing medication dispensing and administration.
