Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong laboratory skills, excellent patient communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of laboratory procedures. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and processing biological samples with precision, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining the confidentiality of patient information. This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient diagnostics and overall care quality.
Shift:
Saturday and Sunday Duties Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using proper techniques to ensure sample integrity. Collect blood and other specimens as ordered by authorized providers. Verify resident identity using facility-approved identification procedures prior to specimen collection. Follow laboratory requirements for specimen collection, handling, storage, and transportation. Prepare specimens for laboratory pickup and ensure timely delivery to the appropriate laboratory. Communicate with nursing staff regarding laboratory orders, specimen collection needs, and unsuccessful collection attempts. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing. Experience Prior experience in medical laboratory work or clinical settings involving specimen collection is highly desirable, but will accept new grads. Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment protocols related to specimen processing and patient confidentiality. Basic life support (BLS) certification Proven ability to communicate effectively with geriatric patients.
