The Wellness Arena

Physical Therapist

Job Description

Performance Physical Therapist | The Wellness Arena Tired of seeing 3-5 patients an hour? Feeling burnt out, behind on notes, and wondering if this is really what being a Physical Therapist is supposed to feel like? We get it. We've been there too. That's one of the reasons we built The Wellness Arena . The Wellness Arena is a growing, private-pay performance physical therapy clinic built around a simple belief: great clinicians should have the time, support, and environment to actually make a difference in their patients' lives. We've traded the traditional high-volume, assembly-line model for true 1-on-1, 60-minute care focused on root-cause resolution, strength, performance, and long-term results. No double-booking. No aides. No bouncing between multiple patients. No treating people like numbers. We work primarily with active adults—lifters, runners, athletes, bootcampers, yogis, weekend warriors, and people who simply want to keep doing what they love for as long as possible. And now, The Arena is growing. We're looking for one exceptional Physical Therapist who is active, growth-minded, coachable, positive, and hungry to become an outstanding clinician. The Mission Our clients aren't simply looking to "get out of pain." They want to train, perform, move confidently, stay active, and build bodies that last. As a Performance Physical Therapist at The Wellness Arena, you'll perform thorough assessments, identify the true drivers behind pain and performance limitations, create individualized treatment plans, and help clients bridge the gap between rehabilitation and high-level performance. You won't just treat injuries. You'll help build more resilient humans. Why This Role Is DifferentTrue 1-on-1 Care Every patient gets your full attention during a 60-minute session . No aides. No double-booking. No running between treatment tables. No "PT mill" environment. You'll actually have the time to assess, think, treat, educate, progress exercises, and do the work you went to school to do. Work With Motivated, Active Clients Our clients value their health and want to get better. You'll work with active adults who lift, run, play sports, take fitness classes, practice yoga, compete, travel, and want to perform at a high level for life. They're invested in the process and appreciate the work that goes into getting great results. Performance Over Pathology We don't believe physical therapy should end when someone is simply "out of pain." Our goal is to help clients become stronger, more capable, more confident, and more resilient than they were before their injury. Treatment may include manual therapy, movement assessment, strength training, mobility work, progressive loading, performance programming, and other evidence-informed approaches based on the individual in front of you. Clinical Mentorship You won't be expected to figure everything out on your own. We provide clinical mentorship designed to help you sharpen your assessment skills, improve clinical reasoning, expand your treatment toolbox, and consistently get better results with active adults. We want clinicians who are hungry to learn—and we invest in helping them grow. Continuing Education We believe becoming an exceptional clinician requires continued learning. That's why we provide a generous continuing education budget for clinicians who want to keep improving their skills and stay current with evolving clinical frameworks, research, and techniques. Growth Opportunities The Wellness Arena is growing quickly, and we want team members who are excited to grow with us. As we expand, there will be opportunities for increased responsibility, leadership, professional development, and career advancement. You can become a key part of a growing brand without having to take on the stress of owning and operating your own clinic. Who We're Looking For We're selective about who joins our team. Clinical skills matter—but mindset, personality, work ethic, and culture fit matter just as much. You Practice What You Preach You value fitness, movement, and your own health. You don't need to be a professional athlete, but you understand the mindset of active people because movement and wellness are part of your own life. You're a Lifelong Learner You're curious. You ask questions. You take courses. You consume research. You enjoy discussing cases. You want feedback. You aren't looking for a clinic where you can become comfortable doing the exact same thing for the next ten years. You want to become exceptionally good at what you do. You're a "Cool Professional" You can work through a complicated biomechanical problem with a client—and five minutes later have a completely normal conversation about sports, training, travel, life, or whatever else comes up. You're professional without being robotic. People trust you, enjoy spending an hour with you, and feel like you're genuinely invested in helping them succeed. You Have Zero Ego Our team collaborates. We share ideas, ask each other questions, discuss difficult cases, and learn from one another. You don't need to be right all the time. You're coachable, open-minded, and willing to change your approach when there's a better way. You're Positive—But You Work Hard We care deeply about maintaining a fun, positive environment. But positive energy isn't a substitute for effort. We're looking for someone who is reliable, driven, detail-oriented, accountable, and willing to work hard to deliver an exceptional experience for every client. Our standards are high because our clients trust us with something incredibly important: their health and ability to keep doing the things they love. Requirements Doctor of Physical Therapy ( DPT ) degree Valid New Jersey Physical Therapy license or eligibility for NJ licensure Current CPR/BLS certification Strong interest in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, performance, and/or pelvic health Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong time-management and organizational skills Growth-oriented and eager to receive coaching and mentorship Open-minded toward evidence-informed techniques and approaches beyond the traditional PT-school curriculum Comfortable assessing movement, exercise, strength, and sport-related demands Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred, although exceptional new graduates with the right mindset are encouraged to apply
Bonus Points If You:
Are certified or experienced in dry needling Have experience in strength and conditioning, personal training, coaching, yoga, athletic training, or fitness Lift, run, practice yoga, play sports, train, or otherwise live an active lifestyle yourself Love analyzing movement and finding ways to improve performance Enjoy continuing education, professional development, books, podcasts, and learning Are comfortable occasionally appearing in educational or social media content Love sports and enjoy being part of an energetic, performance-minded environment Why You'll Love Working Here ✓ True 1-on-1, 60-minute patient care No aides, no double-booking, and no juggling multiple patients at once. ✓ Clinical mentorship Ongoing development designed to help you become an exceptional clinician for active adults. ✓ Generous continuing education budget We invest in clinicians who invest in becoming better. ✓ Competitive compensation We believe great clinicians should be rewarded for great work. ✓ Health insurance and PTO Because your health and life outside the clinic matter too. ✓ Career growth Join a rapidly growing clinic with opportunities to grow into bigger roles as The Wellness Arena expands. ✓ A team that actually enjoys working together We're ambitious and hold ourselves to a high standard—but we also believe work should be fun. This Might Be the Right Job for You If... You've started wondering whether treating 3-5 patients an hour is really sustainable. You're tired of constantly feeling behind. You're frustrated that working harder often just results in being given more patients and more documentation. You got into physical therapy because you wanted to help people , not because you wanted to see as many patients as humanly possible. And somewhere underneath the burnout, you still love being a Physical Therapist—you just want an environment that allows you to practice the way you always imagined you would. That's what we're building at The Wellness Arena. We're creating the kind of clinic we wish existed when we entered the profession: one where clinicians have time with their patients, continue developing their skills, are rewarded for their effort, collaborate with great people, and can build an exciting career without losing themselves in the process. If you're active, ambitious, coachable, growth-minded, and ready for a fresh start in physical therapy, we'd love to meet you. Ready to join The Arena? Apply today.
