Wilton Meadows Health Care Center is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and organized Therapeutic Recreation Director (TRD) to join our Recreation Department. We are hiring for either a Part-Time or Full-Time position . For more than 30 years, Wilton Meadows has been a trusted leader in short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and award-winning memory care . Our recreation team plays an essential role in enriching the lives of our residents by creating meaningful experiences that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Therapeutic Recreation professional or someone looking to grow their career in long-term care. TRD certification is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate and offer tuition reimbursement for an approved Therapeutic Recreation Director certification program.

Position Summary:

The Therapeutic Recreation Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting individualized therapeutic recreation programs that enhance residents' quality of life while meeting state and federal regulatory requirements. This role includes resident assessments, care planning, documentation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities:

Complete resident recreation assessments and develop individualized care plans. Document resident participation, progress, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards. Plan, coordinate, and implement therapeutic recreation programs for residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities. Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, and other departments to support resident-centered care. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations related to recreation programming. Maintain accurate documentation and participate in care plan meetings as needed. Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive environment that promotes resident independence and quality of life. Assist with special events, community outings, and holiday programming. Qualifications Therapeutic Recreation Director (TRD) Certification is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate and provide tuition reimbursement for an approved TRD certification program. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, assisted living, or long-term care setting is preferred. Knowledge of dementia care, aging, and the psychosocial needs of older adults. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Compassionate, creative, dependable, and resident-focused. Preferred Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with MatrixCare documentation software is a plus, but not required.
