Job Description for
Nutritionist Area:
Shelbyville, Indiana AND Greenwood, Indiana.
Available Positions:
Part Time in Shelbyville OR Full Time with days worked between Shelbyville and Greenwood WIC office locations. Responsible for nutrition assessment and development of a nutrition care plan for participants. Provide appropriate follow-up and nutrition education as well as any needed referrals for other services. Accepted Education for Position Registered Dietitian (R.D.) RD Eligible Registered Nurse (R.N.) Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing or Nutrition. Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition Reports to: WIC Program Manager •Please note that benefits are for full time employees only. •We are considering full time & part time applicants.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Accurately complete certification procedure and documentation, including height, weight, and hemoglobin. 2. Evaluate participant's nutritional status through dietary assessment and make recommendations in relation to nutritional needs, family income, cultural food patterns, home facilities, and modifications in diet. 3. Create and tailor a food prescription that is appropriate to the participant's needs. 4. Provide appropriate nutrition education contact for participants. 5. Provide all pregnant and breastfeeding women with appropriate breastfeeding support and education. 6. Issue breast-pumps and accessories as needed. 7. Make appropriate community resource referrals. 8. Accurate and complete documentation of client interaction in the proper note section in the client's records. 9. Work cooperatively with other staff 10. Participate in in-service education, and staff meetings. 11. Attend conferences and meetings needed or required by the position. 12. Participate in community partner meetings and outreach activities. 13. Demonstrate continued efforts to maintain productive clinic flow. 14. Assist with maintenance of WIC office. 15. May have supervising responsibilities or other job duties as assigned by the Coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Able to work independently and on several tasks efficiently at same time. Communicates well, both orally and in writing. Ability to accomplish nutrition assessments with frequent distractions in a time sensitive environment. Possess the ability to work though stressful situations during challenging interactions with clients in a positive manner. Able to comfortably facilitate discussion and nutrition counseling with participants as well as referring to other community resources. Practices professionally in a manner consistent with legal and ethical standards including WIC regulations Easily able to perform computer related tasks and works at a reasonable pace. Special literacy and language skills appropriate to address the diversity of the population served by the local agency may be advantageous. Maintain credentialing.

$30.00 - $31.50 per hour
