Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking a Instructional Support Technician to assist our School of Nursing Faculty, Staff, and Students. The successful candidate for this position will have passion for supporting our next generation of nursing professionals, and the skills to help enhance learning experiences. This person will work to ensure our nursing program meets our campus philosophy and mission, current nursing health care trends, and community and societal needs to prepare graduates for practice in complex, dynamic, multicultural health care environments Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Nursing Laboratory Support & Maintenance
  • Standardizes and prepares nursing lab supplies and materials (e.g. IV fluids, dressings, simulated medications) in accordance with program requirements.
  • Performs routine maintenance of nursing lab equipment including manikins, vital sign monitoring devices (such as blood pressure cuffs), and other equipment.
  • Sets up and breaks down lab stations for nursing lab teaching and practice sessions and prepares and resets equipment and environments for clinical simulations.
  • Assists Laboratory Coordinator with inventory of nursing lab supplies, consumables, and equipment; restocks labs prior to each semester.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Nursing Laboratory Coordinator in planning and scheduling to effectively utilize laboratory resources.
  • Collect and maintains statistics related to laboratory usage and communicates to the Campus Laboratory Coordinator. Knowledge and Skills
  • Maintains the professional knowledge base needed to facilitate preparation of lab materials for contemporary nursing practice Effectiveness in University Services
  • Contributes to the SUNY Morrisville academic community through participation in division and campus committees and activities.
  • Participates in nursing events and activities including Orientation Boot Camp, recruitment events and accepted student days.
Continuing Growth:
Engages in self-reflection and continues learning to improve lab practices that facilitate student learning. Additional Responsibilities for RN, BSN at IST level:
  • Under the direction of faculty assists students with nursing skills practice, instructs students in the skills laboratory setting, and assists with clinical simulations
  • Assist students with utilizing online learning resources.
