The Admissions Coordinator will act as a liaison to the nursing unit to help ensure a smooth transition with the admissions process for all residents. Further, the position will act as a liaison with family members as well as the residents of the Facility. Duties and Responsibilities Meet with resident or responsible family member to sign admissions packet within forty-eight (48) business hours. Maintain an admission's filing system as devised by the Admissions Director. Assist potential residents and their families by conducting tours of the Facility and answer questions regarding the Facility and admissions process. Provide residents with admission information packet (e.g., resident rights, notice of privacy practices, admissions contract, etc.). Review as necessary. Obtain information from potential residents when assisting with Medicaid applications: PRI, complete, bank statements, financial support statements, and insurance verification. Assure that all departments receive necessary information to prepare for admission (i.e. medications, treatments, and any special needs). Forward completed medical records to the appropriate department, if necessary. Review and explain the resident, and/or guardian, room rates, billing procedures, visitors and guest privileges, restrictions, resident care procedures, etc., as appropriate. Keep abreast of current Medicare and Medicaid regulations governing admission and discharge requirements of health care facilities. Working Conditions Works in office areas as well as throughout the Facility. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs. Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies and personnel, etc. Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors. Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support personnel, etc., to assure that the residents' needs are continually met. Education Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience Two (2) years prior admissions experience in health care facilities and Medicaid filing preferred. Ability to type is required. Specific Requirements Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.
