$38,000 - $52,600 per year Position Summary The Call Center / Patient Service Representative delivers exceptional customer service by handling inbound phone inquiries and managing front-desk patient registration. This dual-function role educates callers on available health programs, collects intake data, verifies insurance, collects payments, and assists with program enrollments (such as Medicaid and Uncompensated Care). Cross-trained across both call center and front-desk workflows, this position ensures a seamless transition for patients into clinical care.
Core Responsibilities Call Center Operations:
Answer, screen, and process high-volume telephone inquiries and medical service requests according to established protocols and confidentiality standards. Collect accurate intake information, schedule patient appointments in the electronic medical system, and direct medical triage calls to nursing staff. Maintain knowledge of health center programs and consistently meet quality benchmarks and call-monitoring performance standards.
Patient Registration & Front Desk:
Conduct patient check-in/registration, verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and process cash transactions accurately. Support patient enrollment in Medicaid, Uncompensated Care, and related financial assistance programs. Monitor provider clinical schedules, on-call rotations, and daily leave to optimize appointment booking.
Flexibility & Operational Support:
Cross-train to flex between call center and front-desk duties based on daily staffing needs, call volume, or coverage adjustments. Adapt to evolving operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and software updates. Provide on-site coverage across facility locations or work remotely as directed by management. Perform additional operational duties and participate in continuous service improvement efforts as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or post-secondary coursework preferred. Must pass the state presumptive eligibility exam for Medicaid enrollment within the first year of employment (training provided).
Skills & Competencies:
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Strong computer literacy and comfort navigating modern healthcare registration and scheduling software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first approach. Ability to multitask, manage frequent interruptions, and stay composed in a fast-paced environment.
Physical & Environmental Demands:
Standard office and clinical healthcare facility environment. Requires manual dexterity for keyboarding and phone operations, clear English communication, normal hearing/vision, and the ability to bend, kneel, and perform light lifting as needed.
