Job Description

HOURS:
Monday-Thursday 7:00 am-1:30pm (26 hrs/wk) - Schedule may vary.
Position Summary:
This position opens Holy Grounds café by 7:15 am Monday-Thursday, as well as plans, purchases food for and prepares lunch for St. Joseph Catholic School, served from 11:30-12:30 Monday - Thursday. This position is a re-occurring 9-month position from late August through early June. As the Barista, the candidate helps to operate Holy Grounds efficiently. You will be responsible for preparing and serving high quality beverages, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. As the Lunch Program Coordinator, you will plan, purchase supplies and prepare nutritious and tasty meals for up to 90 students. You will work independently and oversee volunteer baristas. This includes 8th Grade St. Joseph School students, for internship opportunities, while fostering a positive, Christian workplace that exercises patience and understanding for interns learning on the job. The candidate will follow policies and procedures for operations including inventory, supplies, customer service, and compliance with Washington State Department of Health.
  • Preference will be given to practicing Catholics. Non-Catholic applicants who can support the teachings of the Catholic Church regarding faith and morals in both word and action are welcome to apply.
  • Responsibilities:
    A. Operations -School Lunch Coordinator
  • Planning a month ahead, design nutritious and balanced menus
  • Prepares and serves balanced, nutritious meals based on
OSPI/USDA
standards
  • Properly handles and maintains all equipment.
  • Develop monthly menu to be approved by Principal
  • Manages inventory, purchasing, receiving, and storage.
  • Maintains equipment, including ovens, warmers, sinks, counters refrigerator/Freezer.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace, according to BCHD standards B. Operations -Barista
  • Prepares and serves coffee, tea, and other drinks by following guidelines and recipes to ensure consistency and specified quality standards.
  • Properly handles and maintains all equipment.
  • Responds to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints politely and efficiently.
  • Accurately operates POS systems and handles cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash handling procedures.
  • Keeps coffee, ingredients, and other supplies appropriately stocked to keep coffee stand operational.
  • Assists with inventory management, receiving, and storage.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and blenders.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace, according to BCHD standards
  • Serves customers quickly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of menu offerings as drink specials and other marketing strategies to support sales. C. Customer Service - Barista
  • Greet customers quickly and politely, take orders accurately and provide recommendations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by repeating orders back to customers, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Develop relationships with regular customers and provide Christ Filled Encounter with all who enter. D. Other Duties
  • Train, mentor and supervise volunteers
  • Lead each day in prayer with volunteers
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to improve skills and knowledge provided/recommended by your supervisor.
  • Collaborate with co-workers to maintain a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Balances expenses with revenues for both programs
  • Recommends new approaches, efficiencies, and continual improvements to supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Job Requirements:
The following requirements are those that are normally required for the performance of a Cafeteria position. Physical Requirements:
This position normally requires the physical demands of standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting (up to 30lbs) or performing other work requiring medium to high physical exertion, talking and hearing and adequate vision on a continuous basis to perform the job's essential requirements.
Non-Physical Requirements:
1. Education
  • High school diploma/GED preferred 2. Experience
  • Two years of experience in retail, hospitality, and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Work experience as a barista preferred. 3. Special Skills
  • Basic mathematic skills (addition, subtraction, percentages).
  • Ability to problem solve quickly.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and multi-task while maintaining accuracy. 4. Licenses, Registration, Certification
  • Valid Washington Food Worker Card within first 14 days of hire.
  • Washington State driver's license and required minimum liability insurance for WA State
  • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities' liability insurance provider
  • CPR/First Aid certification within first month of hire
  • BCHD Certified Food Protection Manager Training at next opportunity Employment is conditional upon:
  • Clearance of Criminal Background check and fingerprinting when required.
  • Completed VIRTUS training
Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
