Assistant Dining Room Manager Job Expectations Reports To:
Dining Room Manager / General Manager Position Summary The Assistant Dining Room Manager supports the daily operation of the front of house by leading the service team, ensuring an exceptional guest experience, maintaining high service standards, and assisting with staffing, training, and administrative responsibilities. This role is expected to lead by example, remain visible on the floor, and step into any position as needed. Primary Responsibilities Guest Experience
Ensure every guest receives friendly, prompt, and professional service.
Resolve guest concerns immediately and professionally.
Visit tables throughout service to ensure satisfaction.
Build relationships with regular guests. Leadership
Assist in supervising servers, hosts, bartenders, bussers, food runners, and support staff.
Coach employees in real time on service standards.
Maintain a positive, team-focused culture.
Lead pre-shift meetings when assigned. Operations
Open and/or close the restaurant following company procedures.
Ensure dining rooms are clean, organized, and presentation ready.
Monitor table turns and seating efficiency.
Coordinate with the kitchen to ensure smooth service.
Ensure all side work is completed before employees leave. Staff Development
Train new team members.
Reinforce service standards and company policies.
Assist with scheduling and shift coverage.
Document coaching conversations when necessary. Food & Beverage Quality
Ensure food is delivered accurately and promptly.
Monitor plate presentation before food leaves the kitchen.
Ensure beverages meet company standards. Administrative Duties
Assist with daily paperwork and cash reconciliation.
Monitor labor throughout the shift.
Help manage inventory and supplies.
Communicate operational issues to management. Expectations
Be visible on the floor during peak business hours.
Lead with professionalism, urgency, and integrity.
Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
