Transfer Care Specialist Minnesota Cremation Services Minnesota Cremation Services is growing quickly, and we are looking for caring, dependable people to join our transfer care team. This is not simply a transportation job. Our Transfer Care Specialists are often among the first people a family meets after someone they love has died. You may walk into a private home just minutes or hours after a death. You may meet a spouse, son, daughter, parent, nurse, hospice worker, or caregiver who is overwhelmed and unsure of what happens next. How you speak to them matters. How you enter the room matters. How you care for the person who has died matters. We are looking for people who can combine compassion with responsibility, professionalism, physical capability, and good judgment. We are also looking for people who understand the reality of funeral service: Death does not happen on a schedule. Some shifts are quiet. Others change quickly. You may receive multiple calls close together. A transfer may take longer than expected. A difficult staircase, small bedroom, weather conditions, family dynamics, facility requirements, or another unexpected situation may require you to slow down, think critically, and adapt. We need people who can handle that without losing sight of the most important part of the job: the family in front of you. Positions Available We currently have several opportunities available within our transfer care team. Full-Time Transfer Care Specialist (salaried role, not on-call pay) Our primary full-time opening includes the following scheduled coverage:

•5:00 AM This position combines scheduled on-call coverage, transfers, family interaction, facility responsibilities, and other work supporting our care team. We also have weekday daytime availability for candidates interested in primarily daytime transfer coverage. Exact scheduling and responsibilities will be discussed during the interview process. On-Call Transfer Care Specialists We are also hiring additional team members who want to work on an on-call basis. Our on-call shifts run every day in two blocks: 5:00 AM

•5:00 AM (most available shift) On-call specialists are paid: $50 for each scheduled on-call shift $75 for each transfer completed during that shift This can be a good fit for someone who wants meaningful part-time work, supplemental income, or a position where they can be available from home and respond when needed. Because response time matters, on-call team members must live within 25 minutes of our Rockford facility to respond promptly. What You'll Do Depending on your position and shift, responsibilities may include: Responding to calls from families, hospices, hospitals, nursing facilities, medical examiners, and other care partners Traveling to private residences, hospitals, care facilities, medical examiner offices, and other locations to bring deceased individuals into our care Meeting grieving families with compassion, patience, professionalism, and respect Explaining what you are doing when appropriate and helping families feel comfortable during an incredibly difficult moment Safely transferring deceased individuals using proper equipment and techniques Maintaining accurate identification and chain of custody at all times Completing required documentation accurately Communicating clearly with funeral directors and other members of our team Navigating unfamiliar homes, facilities, stairways, hallways, elevators, entrances, and other environments Assessing situations and determining the safest and most respectful way to complete a transfer Keeping transfer vehicles clean, stocked, organized, and ready Cleaning and maintaining transfer equipment Assisting with facility organization and other care-related responsibilities Completing training, safety meetings, administrative work, and occasional projects Helping wherever needed as our company continues to grow The Physical Side of the Job This is a physically demanding position , and applicants should understand what that means before applying. We use professional transfer equipment and proper techniques whenever possible, but deceased individuals still need to be moved safely and respectfully from a wide variety of environments. You must be physically capable of: Lifting and assisting with significant weight Pushing and pulling loaded transfer equipment Bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for extended periods Maneuvering stretchers and other equipment Navigating narrow hallways and small bedrooms Working around furniture and other obstacles Moving safely through tight spaces Navigating stairs and uneven surfaces Loading and unloading transfer vehicles Working with another team member when a transfer requires additional assistance Not every home is designed with a transfer in mind. You may encounter narrow staircases, small bathrooms, crowded bedrooms, apartment buildings, snow-covered walkways, difficult entrances, or other challenging environments. You need to be comfortable looking at a situation, thinking through the safest approach, communicating with your partner or team, and completing the transfer with dignity. Physical strength matters, but judgment matters just as much. The Reality of Transfer Care We believe in being transparent about the work. There are incredibly meaningful moments in this job, but there are also difficult ones. You will regularly be around deceased individuals. You may see people who have died under a variety of circumstances and physical conditions. You will meet families who are crying, shocked, angry, exhausted, confused, or emotionally overwhelmed. You may receive a call in the middle of the night. You may be getting ready to finish a shift when another family needs us. You may have a plan for your evening, and that plan may change. You may walk into a situation where the answer is not immediately obvious. That is why this job requires more than simply following instructions. We need people who can think. People who can assess a situation. People who know when they can safely handle something themselves and when they need additional help. People who can remain calm when something does not go as expected. And people who understand that no matter how busy the night has been, the family you are standing in front of should never feel rushed. Comfortable around death — You understand the nature of the work and can remain respectful and composed. A safe driver — You have a valid driver's license and take vehicle safety seriously. Comfortable with technology — You can use a smartphone, computer, navigation systems, and learn new software. Previous experience in funeral service, hospice, healthcare, EMS, caregiving, law enforcement, fire service, patient transport, or another people-focused role can be helpful, but it is not required.
