Overview The Administrative & Events Specialist supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of university events while providing high-quality administrative support to the Campus Life Department. This position serves as a professional ambassador for Miami Regional University by delivering exceptional customer service and creating positive experiences for students, employees, alumni, community partners, and guests. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, service-oriented, and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced higher education environment where no two days are alike. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administrative Support Provide administrative support for departmental operations. Maintain electronic and paper records. Monitor departmental inventory and supplies. Process event documentation and maintain event files. Assist with coordination, calendars, meetings, and event logistics. Event Operations Assist with set up and execution of university events. Prepare event materials, signage, name badges, promotional items, and registration supplies. Room setup and breakdown. Transport event materials between campus and locations, when necessary. Assist vendors, guests, speakers, and volunteers. Ensure event spaces meet university presentation standards. Troubleshoot operational issues during events. Assist with photography and documentation of university events, if requested. Support evening, weekend, and off-campus activities. Customer Service & Community Engagement Provide exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, community partners, and prospective students. Represent MRU professionally at recruitment activities, commencement, orientations, graduations, recognition ceremonies, and community events. Build positive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Lift, carry, push, and move event materials up to approximately 30 pounds. Stand and walk for extended periods. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. One year of administrative, customer service, hospitality, or event support experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in higher education. Experience with event planning. Experience coordinating vendors. Physical Requirements The employee must regularly: Lift up to thirty pounds. Move event furniture and supplies. Bend, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs. Pay:
$18.00 - $19.00 per hour
