Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Distiller / Distillery Manager to lead our craft beverage production team. This pivotal role combines hands-on distillation expertise with strong leadership skills to oversee all aspects of the distillery operations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about craft spirits, committed to maintaining the highest quality standards, and dedicated to fostering a safe, efficient, and innovative production environment. Responsibilities Oversee daily distillation processes, ensuring optimal operation of equipment and adherence to recipe specifications. Lead the manufacturing of spirits, including fermentation, distillation, blending, and packaging activities within a beverage manufacturing facility. Maintain rigorous sanitation standards and ensure compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), and safety protocols throughout all production stages. Troubleshoot equipment issues promptly, performing mechanical repairs or coordinating maintenance to minimize downtime. Supervise a team of production staff, providing training on safety standards in production, quality assurance procedures, and operational best practices. Monitor quality control parameters to uphold product consistency and meet food safety standards; conduct regular inspections and documentation. Ensure proper chemical handling of industrial chemicals used in cleaning or processing while adhering to safety standards in a food & beverage environment. Collaborate with the tasting room for inventory management, storage, and distribution logistics. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing process enhancements and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations. Extensive knowledge of sanitation procedures, HACCP protocols, CGMP guidelines, and food safety standards within a beverage or food manufacturing setting. Proven experience in craft beer brewing or spirits distillation with hands-on equipment operation skills. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machinery issues efficiently. Familiarity with industrial chemical handling, material handling equipment operation, and warehouse processes. Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements, recipes, and quality assessments. Experience operating forklifts and other material handling machinery safely; certified if applicable. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively while promoting safety and quality standards. Knowledge of packaging processes specific to beverage production; understanding of warehouse logistics is a plus. Commitment to adhering to safety protocols in a high-paced manufacturing environment involving heavy lifting and manual handling tasks. Background in food & beverage production with an emphasis on quality assurance within the food industry. Experience with TTB and MLCC Laws and procedures is a huge benefit. Helping us create new products with a creative yet Michigan-centric focus. Maintiaing precise records through experimentation. Working with the Tasting Room/Restaurant to coordinate our Spirits with the cocktail menu. Explain the disitllation process while giving tours to guests and leading Spirit Making Classes and Cocktail Classes as well. The ideal candidate will be able to focus on the details of daily, weekly and monthly tracking and inventory as well as preparing Monthly taxes. $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
