Job Description
The Distiller is responsible for daily production including mashes, fermentations, distillations, barreling, proofing, blending and warehouse work. Copper Kettle has a core lineup of Rum, Sour Mash Whiskey, Gin, Moonshine and Vodka and continues to innovate in each category. The distiller will also be responsible for contributing ideas, research and development for new Limited Releases and Core products as the company grows. This growth will also be part of the distiller's responsibility. Explaining the process for tours, researching and staying on top of the legalalities and opportunities in the marketplace. B2B as well as consumer outreach and sales will be part of the extended growth opportunities as well as the core responsibilities:
- Manage production of spirits
- Manage blending of spirits
- Operation of production equipment
- Perform sensory evaluations;-)
- Accurately maintain and comply with all reporting processes. Prepare our Products for sale.
- Coordinate and perform bottling and packaging operations.
- Support preparation of outbound products. Keep our operation sanitary.
- Use best practice techniques for cleaning and sanitizing of, and equipment, instruments, and hoses.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the production space and customer facing areas in the production area. What we're looking for
- Spirit distillation or brewery experience preferred.
- Have a passion for producing spirits and a trained sensory with spirits.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of rum, whiskey, gin or vodka.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to work within a small organization determined to grow.
- Demonstrable computer skill set to input all production data into software for distillery tracking.
- Valid US Driver's License. Sales and Customer Service Experience a huge advantage
- This is a physical job and candidate should have the ability to safely lift, pull, roll and hoist 55 lbs. of grain bags, hoses, barrels of liquids on a hand truck, Lifting will possibility be above shoulder level to load grain into mash/lauter tun from a locking staircase accessed by climbing.
- Must be 21 years of age and able to work in hot/cold climate changes, high places, wet/slippery floors, loud noise, fumes, gases, irritating substances, dust, exposure to solvents and chemicals and around mechanical and pressured vessels.
- Work around and with electrical devices, such as motors, pumps, refrigeration equipment and hammer mills.
- Ability to work early or late hours, including some night and weekends as needed.
- Judge and maintain acceptable standards of product quality as well as the efficient production of quality distilled spirits.
- Maintain a positive attitude with the ability to communicate clearly and interact positively and professionally with employees and customers.
Schedule:
FLEXIBLE
but- Monday to Friday.
