Manage reservations using restaurant management systems such as OpenTable or similar platforms, efficiently seating guests and optimizing table turnover. Maintain a clean and organized host stand, ensuring menus, reservation lists, and waiting areas are tidy and inviting. Coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth flow of seating arrangements and timely service. Answer phone inquiries with courteous phone etiquette, taking reservations or providing information about the restaurant. Assist with food preparation, food handling, dishwashing, and basic cleaning tasks to support overall restaurant operations. Handle guest inquiries or complaints professionally, demonstrating excellent in-person customer service skills to resolve issues promptly. Support bussing tables, clearing dishes, and assisting with food delivery when needed to enhance guest satisfaction. Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for order taking and cash handling accurately. Follow food safety protocols diligently during meal preparation and service to ensure guest safety and compliance with health standards. Qualifications Previous experience as a host/hostess or in food service is preferred; familiarity with restaurant operations is a plus. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with guests and team members. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately using POS systems like Aloha POS or Micros POS. Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures. Experience with dishwashing, cleaning, bussing tables, and general kitchen support is advantageous. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a friendly demeanor. Experience with reservation management software such as OpenTable is desirable; familiarity with Phone etiquette is essential. Willingness to learn new skills such as meat cutting or dietary accommodations if required. A team-oriented attitude with excellent guest relations skills to create a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons.
