Tempe, Arizona Position Overview A full-service hotel in the Phoenix/Tempe market is seeking an experienced and hands-on General Manager to oversee all aspects of hotel operations and lead the property toward continued operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and financial success. The General Manager will provide strategic leadership across all hotel departments, including Rooms, Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Sales & Marketing, Food & Beverage, Human Resources, and Finance . This individual will work closely with department leaders, ownership, corporate partners, vendors, and the local community to ensure the property operates efficiently while consistently delivering a high level of guest service. The ideal candidate is a strong hotel operator and leader who is comfortable being visible and hands-on, making decisions in a fast-paced environment, developing teams, managing financial performance, and identifying opportunities to improve both the guest experience and the property's profitability. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the entire hotel and ensure all departments are functioning efficiently. Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and accountability to department heads and management personnel. Establish and maintain hotel service standards consistent with brand expectations. Serve as a positive role model and promote a guest-first, can-do culture . Recruit, select, train, develop, and retain management and supervisory personnel. Manage leadership schedules and ensure adequate operational coverage. Conduct performance evaluations and develop strategies to address departmental opportunities. Respond to and resolve guest concerns and operational issues professionally and effectively. Oversee hotel sales and marketing strategies to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall room revenue. Develop and monitor annual business plans, marketing strategies, forecasts, and revenue initiatives. Work with revenue management and sales teams to identify market opportunities and maximize profitability. Oversee Food & Beverage operations, including outlets and banquet operations, with a focus on revenue generation and cost control. Maintain strong relationships with key clients, community partners, vendors, and local organizations. Oversee Human Resources practices, employee development, training, wage administration, and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Review financial statements, budgets, forecasts, departmental performance, and key hotel performance indicators. Identify revenue enhancement and cost-control opportunities. Ensure effective housekeeping, maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and security standards throughout the property. Work with ownership and contractors on property improvements, renovations, and capital projects. Ensure compliance with brand standards, company policies, licensing requirements, and applicable regulations. Serve as Manager on Duty when required. Participate in corporate initiatives and implement company programs at the property level. Handle difficult situations and competing priorities with professionalism and sound judgment. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. What We're Looking For Minimum 5 years of General Manager experience in a hotel environment. Previous experience managing a full-service hotel strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of hotel operations, including Rooms, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Sales, Food & Beverage, and Guest Services. Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, financial statement analysis, labor management, and cost control. Knowledge of revenue management strategies and hotel performance metrics, including occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR. Experience with property management systems and standard hotel technology. Proven ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and hold teams accountable. Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment. Strong guest-service mindset and ability to resolve complex guest and employee situations. Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays when operationally necessary. Ability to work effectively with ownership, corporate partners, employees, guests, vendors, and community partners. RAMP Manager certification or ability to obtain/maintain certification, as applicable. Maintain a strong focus on guest satisfaction while balancing operational and financial priorities. Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to make sound decisions in changing circumstances. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Schedule & Work Environment This is a full-time management position requiring flexibility based on hotel operations and business needs. The position may require 8+ hour shifts, AM/PM coverage, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel . The General Manager must be comfortable working in a fast-paced hotel environment and moving throughout the property as needed to oversee operations and address business needs.
