Job Summary
The Janitor at Mayflower Gardens, a 502-unit senior residentialmunity in Lancaster, CA, is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the property, includingmon areas, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other designated areas. This position supports dailymunity operations by performing routine cleaning and sanitation duties, maintaining a clean and weing environment, and promptly addressing cleaning needs throughout the property.
The ideal candidate is dependable,anized, and detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently while following established cleaning and safety standards. This role plays an important part in ensuring themunity remains clean, safe, accessible,fortable, and weing for residents, visitors, and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitizing:
Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting all areas of the facility such as offices, hallways, restrooms, kitchens, andmon areas.
Waste Management:
Empty trash cans, recycling bins, and disposal of waste properly in designated areas. Replace liners and ensure waste areas are kept clean and orderly.
Restroom Maintenance:
Clean and sanitize restrooms thoroughly, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and floors. Restock supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels as needed.
Floor Care:
Maintain the cleanliness of various flooring surfaces, including tile, carpet, and wood. This may include vacuuming, spot-cleaning, waxing, buffing, and stripping floors as necessary.
Window & Glass Cleaning:
Clean interior windows, glass doors, and other glass surfaces to ensure they are free of smudges and streaks.
Minor Maintenance:
Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, tightening screws, and reporting larger maintenance needs to the Building Maintenance team.
Safety & Compliance:
Ad to all safety regulations and use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely. Ensure that cleaning supplies are stored properly, and that all safety data sheets (SDS) are accessible.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and report the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Request restocking of supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Event Support:
Assist with the set-up and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and other activities as required.
Special Projects:
Undertake special cleaning projects, such as deep cleaning, seasonal tasks, or post-construction clean-up, as assigned by the supervisor.
Communication:
Maintain clearmunication with supervisors and other staff members, reporting any issues, hazards, or areas needing attention.
Additional Responsibilities
Conduct routine nighttime rounds throughout the property, includingmon areas, entrances, hallways, grounds, and parking areas.
Observe and report safety hazards, property damage, unusual activity, or other concerns to management.
Document significant incidents or concerns observed during rounds.
management or emergency services when necessary.
Qualifications
Experience:
Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, and techniques. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift to 25 lbs., and stand or walk for extended periods. Must be able to bend, kneel, and reach as needed to perform cleaning tasks.
Work Ethic:
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and amitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Communication:
Basic verbalmunication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Availability:
Flexible schedule, including availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as required.
Compensation
Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required.
This is a part-time 30+ hours non-exempt position. The anticipated hourly rate is $18.00-$20.00 per hour.
