Job Description

PURPOSE:

JOB SUMMARY

Supports the upkeep, repair and overall functionality of facility equipment

and building systems. Performs routine inspections, preventative

maintenance and routine repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School or Technical School Diploma/Degree
  
• Possess the ability to be flexible, adaptive and cooperative

• Strong problem solving capabilities and the ability to prioritize
  
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  
• Self-motivated
  
• Well-organized and have a strong attention to detail
  
• At least one year applicable maintenance work experience
  
• Ability to life 50 lbs or more
  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operation and maintenance of the boilers, heating systems and air
  conditioning systems
  
• Plumbing, electrical, and carpenter work or general repair, replacement
  of fixtures and other similar tasks as needed
  
• Light construction, remodeling and repairs to any building damage.
  
• Regular preventive maintenance (heat pumps, air handling units, HVAC,
  pumps, chillers, water softeners and other support devices)
  
• Accurate record keeping of maintenance
  
• Yearly winterization of outside facilities
  
• Regularly analyze the cost of necessary materials and services to ensure
  that decisions are being made with financial integrity
  
• Snow removal from sidewalks, parking lots and loading dock areas as
  needed during the school day
  
• Must be available for emergency call 24 hrs a day
  
• Know MSDS requirements and proper chemical storage
  
• Maintain key and fob inventory
  
• Knowledge of setting door schedules, timers and manual override
  options.
  
• Perform light custodial tasks as required, including basic cleaning and
  support during high-need situations
  
• Manages the relationship with third party cleaning services
  
• Support and promote the philosophy of Catholic education and
  contribute to building a spirit of unity within the school and the Cedar
  Valley Catholic School Community.
  
• Compile with rules and objectives of the school system and the
  Archdiocese of Dubuque.

These duties are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand,

walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the

hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 50 pounds.
