SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION
Assists with the implementation of recreational, leisure, fitness, and enrichment activities that promote student engagement, personal development, healthy lifestyles, and positive use of leisure time. Provides direct support and supervision to students during scheduled activities while helping maintain a safe, structured, and positive recreational environment.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with organizing and facilitating on- and off-Center recreational, leisure, and enrichment activities for students. Supports the implementation of a variety of recreational programs, including arts and crafts, intramural activities, cultural events, games, fitness activities, and other student enrichment programs. Encourages student participation in recreational activities and promotes positive choices related to fitness, nutrition, wellness, and healthy lifestyles. Assists with preparing activity schedules, calendars, and materials for scheduled recreation programs and student events. Assists with coordinating and supervising student field trips and off-Center recreational activities as assigned. Monitors students during recreational activities to help maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment. Maintains recreation areas, equipment, supplies, and materials in a clean, safe, and organized condition and reports maintenance or safety concerns as needed. Tracks and maintains accurate student participation and attendance records for recreational activities. Assists with monitoring inventory and requesting recreational equipment, supplies, and materials as needed. Provides transportation for students to and from approved Center-sponsored activities and events as assigned. Recognizes and reinforces positive student behavior, appropriate conduct, teamwork, and participation. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the Recreation program and overall student experience.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Proven ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate recreation programs Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Knowledge of operational practices and principles of recreation/avocation programs Proficient in rules and regulations of common sports and games Knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices Proficient in the use of computer software such as MSWord, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED required. An Associate Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred but not required. Previous experience working with youth or supporting recreational, athletic, or enrichment activities is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
One year of recreation experience.
OTHER:
Must possess a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Must possess or obtain valid commercial Driver's License Class B with passenger endorsement within six months of hire. Water Safety Certification.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
: Reading, writing and communicating fluently in English Hearing and speaking to express ideas and/or exchange information in person or over the telephone Seeing to read labels, posters, documents, PC screens, etc. Sitting, standing, moving about or walking for occasional or frequent periods of time Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, office and sports equipment Kneeling, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and/or lifting light objects
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments. May be required to operate a Center vehicle, including a bus, van, or automobile, in varying traffic and weather conditions. Work environment ranges from moderately quiet in office settings to moderately loud in recreational areas and during student activities. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and special events based on program needs. May encounter challenging or confrontational situations involving students and must respond in a calm, professional, and appropriate manner.
