Our camp provides young anglers with a unique outdoor experience, allowing them to fish and learn alongside professional fishing captains while developing valuable skills, friendships, and an appreciation for the marine environment. Lead Counselors play an important role in creating a safe, organized, and memorable experience for every camper. This position combines hands-on camper supervision with leadership responsibilities, staff coordination, and daily camp operations. Successful candidates should enjoy working with children, spending time outdoors, and being part of a fast-paced team environment.

Duties & Responsibilities Camper Supervision:

Provide active supervision and guidance to campers throughout the day, ensuring their safety, well-being, and participation in camp activities.

Daily Camp Operations:

Help coordinate and oversee daily schedules, camper groups, transportation logistics, equipment, and other operational needs to ensure camp runs smoothly.

Fishing & Outdoor Activities:

Support fishing trips and educational activities alongside professional fishing captains, including casting clinics, knot tying, boating safety, cast net lessons, fishing seminars, and other outdoor experiences.

Staff Leadership:

Lead by example and provide guidance and support to counselors and other staff members, helping maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented environment.

Safety & Emergency Preparedness:

Enforce camp safety procedures, communicate potential hazards, respond appropriately to emergencies, and follow established protocols for on-the-water and land-based activities.

Camper Engagement:

Build positive relationships with campers, encourage participation, and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence, and respect for others.

Behavior Management:

Establish clear expectations, address behavioral concerns appropriately, and help maintain a structured, supportive, and enjoyable camp environment.

Parent Communication:

Assist with parent and guardian communication regarding camper needs, concerns, schedules, and other important camp information.

Equipment & Organization:

Help manage fishing gear, supplies, camper belongings, and camp facilities, ensuring equipment is properly maintained and activities are well organized.

Conservation & Marine Education:

Encourage responsible fishing practices, catch-and-release principles, and an appreciation for Florida's marine environment and wildlife.

Problem-Solving:

Take initiative and exercise sound judgment when addressing unexpected situations, resolving challenges, and supporting the overall success of camp.

Positive Camp Culture:

Help create an energetic, welcoming environment where campers can learn new skills, develop friendships, and make lasting summer memories. Qualifications Previous experience working with children in summer camps, youth programs, schools, or similar environments preferred. Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred for manager-level responsibilities. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead by example, work collaboratively with a team, and take initiative when needed. A genuine interest in working with children and creating a positive, engaging camp experience. Comfort working outdoors in Florida's summer weather and participating in active, hands-on camp activities. Ability to remain attentive, patient, and professional while supervising groups of children in a variety of settings. Ability to follow all camp policies, safety procedures, and instructions from camp leadership. Availability to work a flexible summer schedule.
