An Activity Aide supports the Activities Director in leading social, recreational, and therapeutic programs for residents in long-term care, assisted living, or adult day facilities.
Activity Aide's Responsibilities:
Program Execution:
Lead daily group activities (arts and crafts, bingo, music, exercise, trivia) and conduct 1-on-1 bedside visits for room-bound residents.
Resident Transport:
Safely assist residents to and from activity areas, events, and community outings.
Event Prep & Cleanup:
Set up rooms, prepare supplies, and clean spaces before and after scheduled activities.
Documentation & Observation:
Log resident attendance/participation and report changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive status to nursing staff.
Activity Aide's Qualifications Education & Age:
High school diploma or GED required; minimum 18 years old.
Experience:
1+ years in senior living, long-term care, or recreational programming preferred (entry-level welcome with strong interpersonal skills).
Certifications:
Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain during onboarding); valid driver's license with clean record preferred for transport/outings.
Key Skills:
Strong patience, creativity, enthusiasm, basic computer skills for logging attendance, and clear English communication.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours, lift up to 35 lbs, and safely push residents in wheelchairs.
