•Sand Springs, OK Tulsa Boys' Home is seeking a dedicated and energetic Recreation Specialist to support and help lead our therapeutic recreation programs. This role is essential in assisting with the design and implementation of structured, meaningful, and engaging activities that foster growth, well-being, and positive experiences for our residents. Key Responsibilities Assist the Recreation Coordinator in developing and implementing a comprehensive therapeutic recreation plan, including activity scheduling, participation tracking, and logistics Support the creation, organization, and annual updates of the Recreation Program Description Binder Assist in facilitating and coordinating structured recreational programming, with an emphasis on summer activities Provide support in planning and executing Tulsa Boys Home-sponsored Running Club events Assist with coordination and logistics for all Nicholas Club activities and events Support oversight of Boy Scout meetings, activities, and required documentation Assist in implementing program evaluation tools, including pre
•and post-assessments to track resident progress Help maintain recreational materials, equipment, and facilities, including cleanliness, organization, and supply inventory; submit maintenance or facility requests as needed Assist in annual evaluations of recreation programs, including summer school, ropes course, Running Club, and other activities Exhibit a high-energy, proactive approach and the ability to provide consistent, appropriate direction and supervision in group settings Maintain a safe, structured environment while supervising youth in both indoor and outdoor recreation settings Carry out additional duties as assigned by the
Recreation Coordinator, Program Directors, or Executive Director Physical Requirements:
Ability to actively participate in and lead recreational activities, including sports, games, and outdoor programming Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, and remain physically active for extended periods throughout the workday Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies up to approximately 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency or crisis situations, including participation in approved physical intervention techniques (e.g., MAB [Managing Aggressive Behavior]) when necessary Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity Sufficient vision, hearing, and mobility to monitor activities, ensure safety, and communicate effectively with residents and staff Qualifications Must be at least 21 years old , per OKDHS contract requirements High school diploma required Two years' experience in residential youth care preferred Leadership experience and skills Valid Oklahoma driver's license and ability to be placed on agency vehicle insurance Awareness of sensitivity of the cultural and social-economic characteristics of the client population Schedule Tuesday
