Job Summary We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Kitchen Manager to oversee the culinary operations at Hamtramck High School. This role is perfect for someone passionate about food, management, and creating a positive kitchen environment. As the Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for supervising food preparation, ensuring food safety standards, and leading a team to deliver nutritious and delicious meals to students and staff. Your leadership will help foster a collaborative atmosphere where quality and efficiency are prioritized, making a real difference in the school community. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Lead and coordinate all aspects of food production, including meal planning, cooking, and food presentation. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance on food handling, safety protocols, and culinary techniques. Manage daily kitchen operations, including shift management, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with health regulations. Oversee food service management to deliver timely and high-quality meals during breakfast, lunch, and special events like catering or banquets. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by enforcing sanitation standards and proper food storage practices. Collaborate with dietary departments to accommodate special dietary needs and ensure nutritional standards are met. Foster a positive team environment by providing leadership, training, and support to staff members while promoting excellent customer service. Experience & Qualifications Proven management experience in a food service or hospitality setting, preferably within a school or institutional environment. Extensive culinary experience with skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety practices. Supervising experience in a busy kitchen or restaurant management role is highly desirable. Familiarity with food industry regulations related to health standards and safety procedures. Background in catering or banquet services is a plus, along with experience in dietary departments or specialized food programs. Strong leadership skills combined with excellent communication abilities to motivate teams and ensure smooth operations.
