Job Description

Seasonal Management Position | Training Begins March 2027 We're starting our search early for a Gift Shop & Snack Bar Manager for our 2027 camping season. This is a hands-on management position. We're looking for someone who is willing to work alongside their team—but understands that being a great manager doesn't mean doing everyone's work for them. Our Gift Shop & Snack Bar Manager is responsible for making sure the department runs well whether they're standing in the room or not. What you'll be responsible for You'll lead a primarily part-time seasonal team and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our Gift Shop and Snack Bar, including: Training, supervising, and providing direction to team members Setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable when those expectations aren't met Creating an environment where the team can have fun at work while understanding that the work comes first Working alongside the team during busy periods and wherever help is needed Delegating responsibilities instead of attempting to personally do everything Making sure opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, and food-service procedures are consistently completed Monitoring inventory and keeping both the Gift Shop and Snack Bar appropriately stocked Staying ahead of ordering so we're not discovering we're out of something when we need it Maintaining an organized, clean, welcoming retail and food-service environment Identifying and addressing problems before they become bigger problems Communicating effectively with campground management when something does require additional attention Who we're looking for The right person doesn't necessarily need campground experience. We're looking for someone who: Has leadership or supervisory experience Is comfortable managing and providing direction to both teen and adult employees Can be friendly and approachable while still holding people accountable Notices what needs done and takes ownership of making sure it happens Is organized and able to keep track of inventory, ordering, tasks, and people Can stay calm and lead during busy periods Is comfortable addressing performance or behavior problems instead of avoiding uncomfortable conversations Understands the difference between helping their team and doing their team's jobs for them Can make reasonable decisions independently while also recognizing when something needs to be escalated Is willing to jump in and work—whether that means helping with food orders, stocking merchandise, cleaning, or handling customers Retail, restaurant, hospitality, recreation, campground, or other supervisory experience may all translate well to this position. Schedule This is a seasonal position for our 2027 camping season. Training will begin in early March 2027 and position will be open through the end of November 2027. For the right candidate who is flexible in off season job roles this could be a year around position if there is interest. This would be decided early November. Hours will vary throughout the season and will include weekends, holidays, and some evenings. Our busiest periods occur during weekends and the summer camping season, so availability during those times is an important part of this position. We're beginning our search early because this is an important role on our management team, and we'd rather take the time to find the right person than simply fill the position quickly. If you're the kind of manager who can work hard beside your team, teach them to work hard without you, and take real ownership of your department, we'd like to hear from you.
