Rockin' Bowl Café & Bar is looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operation of our kitchen and lead our BOH team. This is a working management position. You'll be responsible for managing the kitchen, but you'll also work alongside your team and cook on the line. Previous Kitchen Manager experience of two year is required. We are looking for someone who has already successfully managed a kitchen and understands what it takes to keep a busy operation running smoothly.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
  • Lead, train, schedule, and supervise kitchen staff
  • Work the line and assist with cooking
  • Plan and manage daily prep based on business needs
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, recipes, and portion standards are maintained
  • Manage food ordering, inventory, and kitchen supplies
  • Own and manage food cost and kitchen labor cost as a percentage of food revenue, with a target of 30% or below for each
  • Monitor these costs regularly and take corrective action through purchasing, portion control, waste reduction, prep, scheduling, and staffing to consistently achieve targets and protect profitability
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
  • Enforce food safety and sanitation standards
  • Address employee performance issues and hold the kitchen team accountable
  • Work closely with the General Manager and FOH team to keep service running smoothly
  • Respond appropriately to food-related guest concerns
  • Step in wherever needed to support the kitchen during busy periods
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
  • Previous Kitchen Manager experience of a minimum of two years
  • Strong line-cooking skills and the ability to work multiple stations
  • Experience leading, training, scheduling, and managing kitchen staff
  • Experience with ordering, inventory, prep, food costs, and waste control
  • Proven ability to manage food cost and kitchen labor cost as a percentage of food revenue, with a track record of meeting established targets
  • Strong understanding of how ordering, portion control, waste, prep, scheduling, and staffing levels directly affect profitability
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to manage a busy kitchen and make good decisions under pressure
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • A hands-on leadership style
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform the physical requirements of a working kitchen ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification is preferred.

ABOUT ROCKIN' BOWL
Rockin' Bowl Café & Bar is located inside the iconic Daffodil Bowl in Puyallup. Our kitchen serves bowling guests, league bowlers, families, parties, and restaurant customers. We're a busy, fast-paced operation where things can change quickly. We need a Kitchen Manager who can take ownership, lead the team, and keep the kitchen moving. PAY $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. If you have proven Kitchen Manager experience, strong cooking skills, and the leadership ability to take ownership of a busy kitchen, we want to meet you!
Pay:
