Position Summary We are seeking a 2nd Shift Lead to support our food manufacturing facility by overseeing all 2nd shift production and packaging activities. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this hands-on leadership role is accountable for safe, efficient, high-quality shift execution while helping coach team members, maintain standards, and ensure clear communication across departments and shifts. The 2nd Shift Lead will oversee the daily activities of all 2nd shift team members across production and packaging, ensuring the team follows production schedules, SOPs, food safety requirements, quality expectations, and company policies. This role is accountable for shift performance, including staffing readiness, line efficiency, waste reduction, attendance communication, issue escalation, housekeeping, and accurate shift reporting. The 2nd Shift Lead will lead by example on the floor, reinforce a strong safety culture, and partner closely with the Production Supervisor to address operational needs and team performance concerns. In this hands-on leadership position, you'll work closely with the Production Supervisor and department leads in quality, packaging, and warehouse to coordinate 2nd shift activities, identify and escalate issues quickly, support root-cause problem solving, and ensure a smooth handoff to the next shift. 2nd Shift Leadership & Accountability Oversee all 2nd shift production and packaging activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule. Hold the 2nd shift team accountable for following SOPs, GMPs, food safety requirements, quality standards, and company policies. Monitor shift performance, including line efficiency, downtime, waste, labor utilization, attendance, and housekeeping. Escalate equipment, quality, safety, staffing, or performance issues to the Production Supervisor in a timely and accurate manner. Provide on-the-floor guidance, training reinforcement, and task direction to team members throughout the shift. Ensure accurate shift documentation, including production counts, downtime notes, quality checks, labor updates, and end-of-shift handoff communication. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve flow, reduce waste, strengthen communication, and increase accountability. Team Development & Coaching Provide hands-on leadership, training, and mentorship to a diverse workforce Create an environment where employees feel supported, respected, and motivated to succeed Address challenges with empathy while ensuring adherence to company standards Foster open communication, trust, and teamwork on the production floor Shift Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with the Production Supervisor to align 2nd shift priorities with daily production goals. Partner with Quality Assurance, Packaging, Warehouse, and Maintenance to support smooth workflow and timely issue resolution. Communicate clearly with incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure accurate handoffs, continuity, and follow-through. Share team concerns, attendance issues, training needs, and performance observations with the Production Supervisor for follow-up. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in food production, baking, packaging, or manufacturing; prior lead experience preferred. Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all departments and employees Demonstrated ability to guide, train, and motivate team members while reinforcing accountability and company standards. Strong knowledge of baking processes, ovens, proofing, and packaging integration . Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality systems . Comfortable leading a shift, assigning work, following up on completion, and escalating issues appropriately. Able to complete basic production reporting and communicate shift performance clearly. Deadline driven and detail-oriented with high level of organizational skills Strong communication skills; able to balance nurturing with accountability Ability to thrive in a small, entrepreneurial environment where flexibility and initiative are essential

Pay:

$30.00 - $36.00 per hour
