This position provides hands-on leadership to dining room team members, promotes a welcoming dining experience, and works closely with the Culinary/Dining Services team to maintain high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, food safety, and resident satisfaction. The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, organized, and passionate about providing excellent service to older adults. Essential Responsibilities Dining Room Operations
Supervise the daily operation of the dining room, including meal service, table setup, seating, and closing procedures.
Ensure the dining room is clean, organized, attractive, and properly prepared before each meal.
Monitor resident meal service to ensure food and beverages are delivered accurately, promptly, and courteously.
Assist residents with menu selections and communicate special requests or concerns to the culinary team.
Ensure residents receive appropriate meals based on documented dietary needs and preferences.
Maintain a warm, welcoming, and hospitality-focused atmosphere. Team Supervision
Lead, train, coach, and support dining room team members.
Assign daily duties and ensure adequate coverage for each meal service.
Monitor employee performance, attendance, appearance, and adherence to community standards.
Provide ongoing training related to customer service, dining procedures, food safety, and resident interactions.
Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and positive communication among dining staff. Resident Experience
Develop positive relationships with residents and their families.
Recognize and respond appropriately to resident preferences, concerns, and service requests.
Address dining-related complaints promptly and professionally and communicate concerns to appropriate leadership.
Encourage resident feedback and make recommendations for improving the dining experience.
Support special events, celebrations, and community activities involving dining services. Food Safety & Compliance
Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to food service and senior living operations.
Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, hand hygiene, and cleaning procedures are followed.
Monitor dining room sanitation and ensure tables, chairs, service areas, and equipment are maintained appropriately.
Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for resident diets, food allergies, and special dietary needs.
Participate in inspections, audits, and quality assurance activities as requested. Administrative Responsibilities
Assist with scheduling and staffing needs for dining room operations.
Monitor dining supplies and communicate inventory needs to the appropriate leader.
Complete required documentation and reports accurately and timely.
Participate in department meetings and leadership meetings as requested.
Communicate effectively with the Executive Director, Dining Services/Culinary Director, Wellness team, Life Enrichment team, and other departments.
Assist with maintaining and improving departmental policies and procedures. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in restaurant, hospitality, healthcare, senior living, or food service supervision preferred.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with older adults and individuals with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and courteous in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Must be able to follow food safety and sanitation requirements. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during meal service.
Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout the dining room.
Ability to lift and carry dining supplies and equipment as required.
Ability to assist with setting and clearing tables.
