Job Description
The Peddie School is an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory school for boarding and day students located in Hightstown, NJ. Peddie is committed to the intellectual, social and moral growth of each of its students. The Peddie School is seeking a part-time Line Server to join the Peddie Food Services Team. General Position Description Part-time position, hourly wage. Reports to Line Supervisor, Management Team. Serves prepared foods to clientele. Essential Job Functions Assist in set-up, service, and break-down of serving area. Assists in clean-up of dining area. Completes tasks as assigned by Line Supervisor. Reports any malfunctions in the serving area to the Line Supervisor. Completes any assigned task, given by Management Team. Must have working knowledge of kitchen equipment. Maintains appearance, cleanliness, and pleasant dining atmosphere of facility. Responsible for setting up dining area and service carts for Family-Style dinners. Responsible for plating up and the rotation of desserts. Responsible to write menu boards and ensure that the vegetarian and healthy choice menus are rotated daily. Responsible for rotation of product using FIFO. Maintain availability, freshness, and quality of food items during service period. Communicates to Line Supervisor and/or kitchen staff when an entree or other food items is getting low. Keeps beverage dispensers clean and full during service period. Keeps condiments, sauces, salt/pepper, napkins clean and full during service period. Assists in the preparation of and/or service at special events. Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of related experience. Must have knife skills and knowledge of food service equipment. Must be able to lift between 20-30 pounds without handles. Must be able to carry objects weighing approximately 10-50 pounds with assistance and reach overhead to retrieve an object weighing as much as 25 pounds. Must be able to bend as much as 20 times per day. Must be able to stand or walk continuously throughout the day on a tiles floor in the kitchen area in a warm and cold environment. Must have the ability to clearly give and understand directions. Must be able to see clearly up close and distance either with or without correction. Must be able to withstand environmental conditions such as extremes in temperature (i.e. warm kitchen areas to cool or freezing areas) and exposure to chemicals (i.e. cleaning solvents). Must possess good social skills with the ability to interact with all clientele in a professional manner. Must report to work in and maintain a clean uniform and hair wear.
