We are currently seeking a passionate individual who is eager to make a difference in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Lead Peer Specialist provides peer recovery support to patients while serving as a lead resource for Peer Specialist staff. In addition to performing the responsibilities of a Peer Specialist, this position coordinates daily workflow and coverage, supports staff onboarding and training, provides peer coaching, and promotes consistency and quality in peer services. The Lead Peer Specialist collaborates with leadership and the interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery, Trauma Informed Care, and departmental initiatives. Responsibilities Provides individual and group peer support, recovery education, mentoring, and coaching to patients while promoting self-help, personal empowerment, and appropriate professional boundaries. Participates as a member of the treatment team, completes required patient documentation, and supports therapeutic milieu monitoring, safety management, Warm Line services, Trauma-Informed Care, and Quality Improvement activities. Serves as the day-to-day lead resource for Peer Specialists, providing guidance, coaching, support, and debriefing as needed. Coordinates daily Peer Specialist workflow, priorities, and coverage based on patient, unit, and departmental needs. Leads the orientation and onboarding of new Peer Specialists and supports ongoing training and development to promote consistency in peer practices. Assists with peer-led and psychoeducation group programming, including curriculum development, staff training, coverage, and monitoring for consistency and quality. Collaborates with leadership and the interdisciplinary team to identify workflow, training, coverage, and service needs. Assists leadership with interviewing and selection activities for Peer Specialist candidates. Promotes consistent Peer Specialist practices and documentation and escalates performance, operational, or patient care concerns to appropriate leadership. Performs all other duties as assigned by management within job scope . Qualifications Education / Training High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience or Associate's Degree or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience Experience Requirements Relevant experience may include peer mentoring, working with at-risk populations, crisis center experience, hospital patient care, behavioral health services, or direct work with populations similar to those served by the department. Previous Peer Specialist experience in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health setting and experience providing peer leadership, training, mentoring, or workflow coordination preferred. Certificates/Licenses/Registration State of Florida certification as a CRPS (Certified Recovery Peer Specialist) or CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist) is required upon hire.
