We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Reptile Care Associate to join our small team in a retail setting. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who would like to advance their career in the reptile industry. A good candidate will have strong customer service skills and a basic understanding of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. As the Reptile Care Associate, you will be the first point of contact for customers while being responsible for overseeing the care of our live reptile collection, ensuring a clean and healthy retail space, and delivering a high standard of customer education and experience. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for customers , using a POS system, offering expert guidance on reptile care, habitat setup, and species suitability. Educate customers in proper animal handling, husbandry and safety procedures. Ensure all enclosures and displays meet the highest standards for animal welfare and visual presentation. Maintain a clean and organized retail and warehouse space. Assist with visual merchandising, product promotions, and in-store education to increase customer engagement and sales. Report directly to store leadership and provide updates on department performance, needs, and customer feedback. Manage daily care of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates , including feeding, habitat cleaning, misting, temperature/humidity checks, and health monitoring. Oversee and maintain accurate records for each animal, including feeding schedules, shedding cycles, and health observations. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in reptile or exotic animal care (professional or advanced hobbyist level preferred). Prior retail or customer service experience . Solid understanding of reptile biology, behavior, environmental needs , and species-specific husbandry practices. Comfortable handling various reptiles and invertebrates, including snakes, lizards, geckos, frogs, tarantulas, and feeder insects. Strong independent thinking skills. Familiarity with retail operations , inventory control, and customer service best practices. Physically able to lift heavy enclosures and perform tasks involving cleaning, standing, and occasional ladder use. Ability to work weekends and holidays. Why Join Us?
