We're looking for someone who can already complete a full groom independently — but we are absolutely open to a groomer whose skills still need some polish. We invest heavily in education and training, and we care much more about someone who wants to keep learning than someone who thinks they already know everything. The position We are currently looking for a groomer for 2 10-hour grooming days per week (8:30 am-6:30 pm), with some flexibility in which days those are. For someone looking for additional hours, we can also offer 1-2 days per week in our client-care/front-desk role at $20/hour. This is a great option for a groomer who wants a steady 30-40 hour schedule while building their grooming book. Our Lexington location is growing quickly, and there is opportunity for this position to grow into additional grooming days over time. If you love grooming but only want to work two grooming days per week, we're open to that too. What grooming is like here We groom one dog at a time. Groomers complete their own dogs from bath and dry through the finished haircut, and appointments are scheduled based on the dog and service rather than simply packing as many dogs as possible into a day. Humane handling comes first. Always. We are a Fear Free salon, but you do NOT need to be Fear Free Certified when you apply. We will pay for your certification. What you do need is a genuine commitment to treating dogs gently and thoughtfully, even when a groom is challenging. Quality matters enormously here, but so does developing reasonable professional efficiency. New groomers start with a slower schedule while they learn our systems and we gradually build their book and pace. We have an attended front desk, so groomers can focus on grooming rather than trying to answer phones and manage appointments at the same time. We enforce no-show and late-cancellation fees. Management supports our groomers' professional judgment, including when they believe a dog should not continue with a groom. We invest in professional equipment — and when something breaks, we fix it. We provide blades and take care of sharpening. We also invest in continuing education, including courses, conferences and private instruction. Most importantly, we genuinely like working together. We are looking for someone who will add to that culture: kind, respectful, reliable, helpful and professional. Our team pitches in for one another, keeps a clean shop and notices what needs to be done without waiting to be asked. Gossip, drama and "that's not my job" attitudes are not part of our culture. Our groomers also interact directly with clients, so thoughtful, kind communication with people is just as important as good handling with dogs. Compensation & benefits Grooming compensation is commission-based plus tips. Our established groomers earn approximately $30/hour in grooming commission, with strong additional tip income. Actual earnings vary based on grooming schedule, skill, production and tips. Client-care/front-desk hours start at $20/hour. What we're looking for You must already be able to independently complete a full dog groom, including bathing, drying and haircutting. A specific number of years of experience is not required — demonstrated grooming ability matters more to us than how long you've been doing it.
