This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people and dogs and likes a job with variety. Some of your day will be spent running our front desk—helping clients, managing appointments and keeping the day running smoothly. When there is additional front desk coverage, you'll step into the salon to bathe and dry dogs, help keep things moving and support our grooming team. We're a Fear Free grooming salon with a fun, supportive culture, clear systems and a team that takes both excellent client service and humane animal care seriously. What You'll DoClient Care Greet clients and check dogs in and out Answer phones, texts and other client communications Schedule and move appointments accurately and efficiently Rebook clients based on groomer recommendations Learn and consistently follow our scheduling and Client Care processes Handle routine client concerns professionally and confidently Apply salon policies consistently while remaining warm and helpful Recognize when a situation should be escalated to a manager or owner Help maintain retail displays, inventory and an organized front desk Grooming Support Bathe and dry dogs using our Fear Free, low-stress handling practices Assist groomers with routine bathing needs when front desk coverage allows Keep the bathing and work areas clean and organized Help with laundry and general salon upkeep Notice where help is needed and pitch in without waiting to be asked Professional bathing experience is not required. We will train the right person. You do, however, need to be genuinely comfortable working hands-on with dogs of different sizes and temperaments. This position does not include haircutting, clipping, nail trimming or independently handling difficult grooming cases. Who We're Looking For More than anything, we're looking for someone we can rely on and trust.
You should be:
Dependable and punctual Warm, friendly and comfortable talking with clients in person and on the phone Detail-oriented and able to follow established processes consistently Comfortable enforcing policies even when a client is disappointed or disagrees Calm enough to handle the occasional difficult customer without taking it personally Comfortable making routine decisions independently while knowing when to ask for help Tech-comfortable and able to learn new cloud-based software quickly Able to switch between tasks without losing important details Comfortable taking feedback and learning new skills Proactive—someone who notices a scheduling problem, a groomer who could use help or a task that needs doing and takes action Interested in a long-term part-time position , not simply something temporary while looking for full-time work Prior customer-service experience is strongly preferred. Professional animal-care experience is a plus but not required. You do not need previous Fear Free experience. We will teach you our approach. You do need to believe in patient, humane handling and treating the dogs in our care with kindness and respect. Schedule This position will generally be 15-20 hours per week , with approximately three weekday morning shifts, typically around 8:30 AM-2:30 PM . We are looking for someone with some schedule flexibility. Our needs are evolving as the salon grows, so the specific weekday schedule may change over time. You should also be available for: Approximately one Saturday per month Occasional full-day shifts Additional hours during planned vacation coverage Occasional last-minute coverage when a team member is sick or unavailable We don't expect you to be available every time something unexpected happens, but flexibility is an important part of this particular role. Physical Requirements This is not a sit-at-a-desk-all-day job .
You must be comfortable:

We often hire at the beginning of the range and increase compensation as an employee develops skills, independence and value within the company.
Part-time employees receive:
Paid sick time Employee discounts Hands-on training Opportunities to learn additional skills and take on more responsibility We're happy for this to remain a great long-term part-time job. But if we find someone exceptional who wants to grow with Metro Pets, we're a growing company and there can be opportunities for increased responsibility over time. About Metro Pets Metro Pets is an independently owned Fear Free grooming company focused on providing thoughtful, low-stress care for pets and excellent service to their people. Our employees have described us as a fun and fair place to work , and that's something we work hard to maintain. We have clear expectations and established systems, but we also trust our team members, support them when situations need to be escalated and recognize people who bring value to the business. If you're organized, dependable, good with people, comfortable with dogs and looking for a part-time position you can make your own, we'd love to hear from you.
