Dog Handler / Daycare Attendant Wag & Bone is a premium indoor dog daycare, boarding, indoor dog park, bar, and events space in Long Island City. We are looking for a reliable, attentive, and team oriented Dog Handler / Daycare Attendant to join our growing team. This is an active, hands on position for someone who genuinely enjoys working with dogs and is comfortable caring for multiple dogs in a busy daycare environment. Previous professional experience with dogs is preferred but not required , but candidates should have previous hands-on experience caring for pets and a basic understanding of canine body language. Responsibilities Supervise groups of dogs and help maintain a safe and positive daycare environment. Observe dog behavior and body language and recognize signs of stress, discomfort, overstimulation, or potential conflict. Safely manage dog interactions and follow Wag & Bone's safety and handling procedures. Communicate important observations or concerns to the Shift Leader or management. Follow feeding and medication instructions when applicable. Training on Wag & Bone's specific procedures is provided. Complete daycare report cards according to our guidelines. Assist with daycare drop offs and pickups when needed within approximately a 1 mile radius. Provide friendly customer service, including greeting clients and assisting with basic questions. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility, including the daycare floor, kennels, side room, bathrooms, kitchen, and bar. Assist with opening/closing procedures and support private events with setup, cleanup, and guest support when scheduled. Communicate clearly with the rest of the team and make sure important information is passed between shifts. What we're looking for We are looking for someone who: Has previous hands on experience caring for dogs or other animals. Is comfortable working with multiple dogs at once. Understands basic dog body language and knows when to ask for help. Is reliable, punctual, and takes scheduled shifts seriously. Communicates clearly with coworkers and management. Is comfortable asking questions rather than making assumptions. Can stay calm and attentive in a busy environment. Is comfortable with cleaning and physical, hands on work. Enjoys interacting with clients and contributing to a positive customer experience. Is willing to learn and receive feedback. Is looking for consistent, dependable work and wants to grow with the team. Schedule Part-time and full time opportunities available. Schedules may range from approximately 2 to 5 shifts per week , depending on availability and business needs. Weekend availability is especially important, and additional weekday availability is a strong plus. Candidates with immediate availability are encouraged to apply.
