Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
  • Perform animal catheterization and administer medications as directed by veterinarians
  • Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and monitoring anesthesia
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
  • Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, and analyze results
  • Take and develop x-rays of animals as needed
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care and answer any questions or concerns
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital preferred
  • Strong knowledge of animal physiology and behavior
  • Proficient in animal handling techniques, including dog handling and equine care
  • Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
  • Ability to perform basic laboratory tests and interpret results
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
