Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform animal catheterization and administer medications as directed by veterinarians
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
- Prepare animals for surgery, including prepping surgical sites and monitoring anesthesia
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
- Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, and analyze results
- Take and develop x-rays of animals as needed
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and answer any questions or concerns
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital preferred
- Strong knowledge of animal physiology and behavior
- Proficient in animal handling techniques, including dog handling and equine care
- Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Ability to perform basic laboratory tests and interpret results
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
