  • Chalfont, PA We are seeking a dependable, motivated Veterinary Physical Therapy Assistant to join our veterinary rehabilitation team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working hands-on with animals, takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized hospital, and is comfortable taking on a variety of responsibilities throughout the day. In addition to assisting with veterinary physical therapy and rehabilitation patients, this position will be responsible for hospital cleaning and custodial duties during scheduled portions of the shift or during downtime between therapy appointments. Required Availability Candidates must be available for most, if not all, of the following shifts:
Monday:
7:45 AM
  • 4:00
PM Tuesday:
11:45 AM
  • 8:00
PM Thursday:
7:45 AM
  • 4:00 PM Reliable attendance and consistent availability for these specific shifts is an important requirement of the position.
Veterinary Physical Therapy Responsibilities Assist the veterinary rehabilitation/physical therapy team with patient care and treatment sessions. Safely handle, restrain, and assist dogs and other veterinary patients as directed. Help prepare patients and treatment areas for therapy sessions. Assist with therapeutic exercises, mobility work, hydrotherapy, and other rehabilitation activities as trained and directed. Monitor patients during treatments and communicate any concerns to the veterinary rehabilitation team. Clean and sanitize equipment and treatment areas between patients. Help maintain an organized, safe, and calm environment for patients and clients. Follow all hospital protocols for animal handling, sanitation, safety, and patient care. Provide compassionate and professional care to patients throughout their visit. Hospital Custodial & Cleaning Responsibilities When not actively assisting with physical therapy patients, the employee will be expected to help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
Duties may include:
Cleaning and disinfecting floors, surfaces, kennels, treatment areas, and equipment. Cleaning animal accidents and maintaining sanitary patient areas. Taking out trash and recycling. Restocking cleaning and hospital supplies. Cleaning bathrooms and common areas. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other routine cleaning tasks. Maintaining a neat and organized therapy and hospital environment. Assisting with other general cleaning and facility-maintenance tasks as needed. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Comfortable working around dogs and other animals. Comfortable performing both hands-on animal care and routine cleaning/custodial work . Physically able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work on the floor as needed. Comfortable working with potentially messy situations, including animal waste and accidents. Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions carefully. A team player who is willing to jump in wherever help is needed. Able to stay productive during downtime without needing constant supervision. Professional, compassionate, and patient with both animals and people. Willing to learn veterinary rehabilitation techniques and hospital procedures. Experience Veterinary, animal care, kennel, rehabilitation, physical therapy, or hospital experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Experience working with animals is strongly preferred. Important Job Expectations This is a working position , and employees should expect to spend time both assisting with veterinary rehabilitation patients and performing cleaning/custodial responsibilities. There may be periods during a shift when there are no active therapy appointments, and those periods will be used productively for cleaning, restocking, organizing, and other hospital-support tasks.
