Kansas City Canine Orthopedics seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to support advanced canine orthopedic surgery, anesthesia, and rehabilitation care. This on-site role includes surgical prep and assistance, anesthetic monitoring and recovery, radiography, medication administration, and detailed EMR documentation. The RVT will educate and support pet owners through pre- and post-operative care, focusing on comfort and mobility. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with canine orthopedic surgeries, including preparation, sterile technique, and intra-operative support. Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia, documenting vitals and responding to changes promptly. Obtain and position radiographs for orthopedic diagnostics following safety and quality standards. Administer medications, fluids, and injections as directed, ensuring accurate calculations and records. Support canine rehabilitation and mobility plans, including post-op care instructions and assistive device use. Provide clear, compassionate communication and education to pet owners before and after procedures. Maintain surgical, treatment, and recovery areas, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness. Accurately document patient histories, treatments, and progress notes in the medical record system. Participate in team rounds and case discussions to support coordinated, high-quality patient care. Uphold clinic protocols for safety, patient comfort, and low-stress handling at all times.
