Performance Equine Vets

Night Veterinary Technician

Job Description

Performance Equine Vets is looking for a Night Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7 equine hospital team in Aiken, South Carolina. If you enjoy hands-on patient care, emergency medicine, and the responsibility of caring for hospitalized horses, this is a unique and rewarding position. Think of this role as the equine hospital equivalent of an ER nurse—you are directly involved in caring for patients throughout the night and are an important part of our veterinary team. Our night technicians provide nursing care for hospitalized, postoperative, emergency, and critical-care patients. Responsibilities include administering scheduled treatments, monitoring patients and recognizing changes in their condition, maintaining accurate medical records, preparing and assisting with emergency and surgical cases, and helping keep the hospital organized, stocked, and ready for incoming patients. The position offers exposure to a wide variety of cases, from routine hospitalized patients to intensive-care and emergency cases. Nights can be busy and fast-paced, but they can also be incredibly fulfilling. You have the opportunity to know your patients well, follow their progress throughout your shift, and play a meaningful role in their recovery. Equine experience is required. Previous veterinary technician or equine hospital experience is preferred, but we are willing to train a strong candidate with excellent horse-handling skills, good judgment, and a desire to learn. We are looking for someone who is reliable, observant, calm and confident around horses, and comfortable working independently while maintaining close communication with the on-call veterinarian. Attention to detail and the ability to recognize when a patient's condition is changing are especially important in this role. Schedule & Position Full-time or part-time opportunities 12-hour night shifts Approximately 2-3 shifts per week Consistent night schedule with opportunities for additional shifts This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves horses, enjoys the challenge and excitement of emergency and hospital medicine, and wants a position where the work they do each night truly matters.
