Job Summary
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
We are a community-based policing agency that is
COMMUNITY PROUD.
We are looking for individuals to join our team as we provide professional police services to the citizens of Hartford.
PATROL OFFICER
Applications are being accepted to fill two vacancies and to establish an eligibility list for future positions. Officers work a 12-hour shift with the regular schedule providing for alternating weekends off.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Starting rate is $33.03/hour, rising to $40.87/hour (per 2026 contract), Wisconsin Retirement System, and with a competitive and comprehensive benefit package.
QUALIFICATIONS U.S.
Citizen; At least 18 years of age; Valid Wisconsin driver's license; No felony or domestic abuse convictions; Must possess the ability to perform essential functions of a law enforcement officer. Applicants must possess a minimum of an associate degree, 60 college credits from an accredited institution of higher learning, or college credits from an accredited institution of higher learning and waived credits from Wisconsin Department of Justice Training and Standards that total 60 credits. Preference may be given to applicants possessing Wisconsin Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board Certification or are eligible for certification.

Candidates may be required to complete a written examination, oral interviews, drug testing, an extensive background investigation, and a psychological and medical examination. The City of Hartford reserves the right to limit the number of candidates during each phase of the testing and screening process.
