Job Description Description The Constable is a sworn peace officer responsible for the service and execution of civil legal documents on behalf of the Magistrate Court. This role ensures that individuals are formally notified of court actions and that civil orders are carried out in accordance with State law and court directives.

Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities :
Process Service:
Serve civil process documents, including summonses, subpoenas, eviction notices, writs, and court orders
Court Orders :
Assist in the execution of court-ordered evictions, property seizures, and repossessions
Public Interaction:
Provide professional information and assistance to the public, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel regarding court procedures and processes
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate, timely records of service attempts, completed services, and actions taken during the execution of court orders
Court Testimony :
Testify in court as needed regarding service of process or the execution of court orders

Professional Standards:
Safeguard confidential information, adapt to changing field conditions, meet strict deadlines, and uphold County and Department standards for delivering excellent customer service
High School Diploma or GED required; undergraduate degree preferred
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years or more of experience in forward facing customer service and/or public service fields
Licensure:
Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver's License and meet the requirements of the County's motor vehicle policy
Sworn Status:
Must meet all requirements necessary to hold a sworn Constable appointment and comply with applicable State standards
