8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Tuesday-Friday:
9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Busy criminal defense law firm in Suffolk County is seeking an experienced, highly organized Bilingual Legal Assistant (English/Spanish) to join our office full-time. A significant portion of our clients are Spanish-speaking, so professional fluency in both English and Spanish is required. Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write professionally in both languages. This is a full-time, in-person position. Applicants must be available to work the full office schedule listed above. The position cannot accommodate school or other recurring commitments during working hours. We are a small, fast-paced practice looking for someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities, communicate confidently and professionally with clients and courts, and help keep the office organized and running efficiently. Responsibilities Communicate with clients in both English and Spanish by phone, email, and text Communicate professionally with courts, prosecutors' offices, attorneys, and other agencies Manage attorney calendar, court appearances, appointments, and deadlines Open and maintain client files Prepare correspondence, court documents, and other legal paperwork Obtain, organize, and maintain discovery and case-related documents Follow up with clients regarding documents, appointments, payments, and case matters Answer phones and communicate with prospective and existing clients Maintain accurate electronic files and office records Assist with administrative and billing-related tasks Coordinate with outside/per-diem attorneys when necessary Track deadlines and important follow-ups Provide general administrative support necessary to keep a busy law office running smoothly Qualifications Fluent bilingual English/Spanish required Must be able to speak, read, and write Spanish professionally Prior law-office experience strongly preferred Criminal defense or litigation experience is a plus Excellent organizational and time-management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish Ability to prioritize multiple matters and deadlines in a busy environment Strong attention to detail Comfortable with computers, email, electronic documents, and office software Dependable and able to work independently after training Professional and personable when communicating with clients Ability to take initiative and follow through without constant supervision Compensation & Benefits $23.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience 401(k) retirement plan Paid holidays The Person We're Looking For We're looking for someone who wants to become an important part of a small, busy law office.
