Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-focused Level One Investigator to support financial crimes compliance efforts in Charlotte, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract position is suited for someone who can evaluate transaction activity, apply sound judgment, and produce accurate findings in a high-volume setting. The role calls for strong analytical ability, careful documentation, and consistent adherence to regulatory standards and internal guidelines.
Responsibilities:
  • Assess transaction monitoring alerts to identify activity that may present financial crime risk.
  • Examine customer profiles and payment behavior to detect irregular activity, emerging patterns, and other risk signals.
  • Perform initial-level investigative reviews and decide when a case should be referred for deeper examination.
  • Flag matters that may require suspicious activity reporting or other regulatory follow-up.
  • Manage a substantial investigation workload while maintaining established quality expectations and turnaround targets.
  • Prepare clear case records that explain findings, supporting evidence, and the rationale behind each decision.
  • Conduct due diligence research through internal platforms and appropriate external information sources.
  • Work closely with compliance, risk, and financial crimes partners to support ongoing monitoring and case resolution. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant hands-on experience.
  • At least 3 years of business experience in a structured work environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in compliance, risk, fraud, financial crimes, investigations, banking, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with anti-money laundering and financial crimes regulatory expectations and common compliance practices.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective written communication skills with the ability to produce concise and well-supported investigative summaries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with data analysis tools.
  • High level of accuracy with the ability to manage competing priorities in a production-driven environment.
