Rochester, NY Job Details Full-time $22.00 - $24.50 an hour 20 hours ago Benefits On-the-job training Qualifications English High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Job Overview RMPS is seeking professional, dependable and customer-focused Transportation Security Officers to support passenger and baggage security-screening operations at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport. Transportation Security Officers help protect the traveling public by screening passengers, accessible property and checked baggage and preventing prohibited or dangerous items from entering secure areas or aircraft. Essential Duties Conduct passenger and baggage security screening. Operate security-screening equipment after successful training and certification. Conduct pat-downs, bag searches and other required screening functions. Identify and resolve screening alarms according to established procedures. Verify travel documents and assist with passenger processing as assigned. Monitor passenger flow through screening checkpoints. Maintain awareness of potential security concerns and suspicious activity. Communicate courteously and professionally with passengers. Follow all security procedures, operational directives and confidentiality requirements. Respond appropriately to security incidents and emergency situations. Complete required classroom, on-the-job, recurrent and remedial training. Maintain required screening certifications and airport credentials. The applicable wage determination describes TSO responsibilities as passenger and baggage pre-board screening, checkpoint-flow monitoring and identification of screening vulnerabilities. Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older . Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National . High school diploma, GED or equivalent. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to successfully complete required screening assessments. Ability to successfully complete required medical evaluation. Ability to successfully complete pre-employment drug screening. Ability to successfully complete required background, financial/suitability and security vetting. Ability to obtain and maintain required airport credentials. Ability to successfully complete classroom and on-the-job training and certification. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and handle items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, with assistance where appropriate. Ability to work in a fast-paced and crowded airport environment. Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and variable schedules. The incumbent's current ROC posting uses substantially the same eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship/national status, 18+, high school/GED, assessment, medical evaluation, drug testing and TSA background/financial records review. Experience No prior airport-screening experience is required for an entry-level TSO candidate who successfully completes all required training and certification. Previous aviation security, TSA/SPP, military, law-enforcement, security or high-volume customer-service experience is preferred. RMPS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
