BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB
Under general supervision, performs as a working lead responsible for the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems at City parks and facilities, right of way, and medians. This is accomplished by performing maintenance tasks that include inspecting, auditing, diagnosing and repairing irrigation systems. Incumbent is responsible for developing, and implementing irrigation system procedures and programs for the safe and efficient delivery of irrigation water.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1 VH
Coordinates projects and work activities with co-workers, other divisions, departments and contractors as applicable. May lead a small crew of employees as needed to repair or replace irrigation systems. 2 VH Plans, designs, and installs new irrigation systems at City parks and facilities. Plans, develops and implements irrigation programs to control all irrigation sites. 3 VH Assists in setting and scheduling irrigation system operations. Develops and implements preventative maintenance schedules to ensure regular servicing and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment related to park irrigation systems 4 VH Completes monthly water usage report and assists with regular water system assessments throughout the city's medians and parks, to ensure compliance with Arizona Department of Water Resources requirements. 5 VH Maintains and repairs irrigation systems used in the delivery of irrigation water. 6 VH Programs and adjusts irrigation controllers as needed throughout the year to maintain water wise sustainable practices 7 VH Participates in troubleshooting and maintenance of irrigation systems. Serves as liaison as assigned to assist with complex problems/situations and provides technical expertis. Inspects and repairs irrigation systems at City parks and facilities; makes repairs to irrigation systems including valves, rotors, sprinklers, backflow, and valve boxes. 8 VH Performs field tests on irrigation systems to determine efficiency, completes state required audits. Calculates accurate watering schedules for irrigation systems by combining plant water use, soil and local weather data. 9 VH Performs turf maintenance functions; fertilizing turf renovation, aeration, top dressing and mowing. Performs related maintenance and landscaping duties as required. 10 VH Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding current systems and repairs required beyond capabilities. 11 VH Adheres to applicable safety guidelines. 12 VH Develop and maintain Irrigation System procedures 13 VH Performs related work as assigned.

Formal Education/ Knowledge Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, or technical nature obtained through six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Community college, vocational, technical or correspondence school. Certification(s) may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training. Experience Minimum of Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance, operation or construction of landscape irrigation systems or related field. Certifications and Other Requirements Valid Driver's License, maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry. Must be certified in at least one of the following: Certified Backflow Inspector, Backflow Assembly Certification, Irrigation Auditor, Water Audit Certification, Smart Scape Landscape Certification. Reading Work requires the ability to read emails, contracts, specifications, blueprints, and comprehend reference books, manuals and related materials. Math Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations. Writing Work requires the ability to clearly construct written communication and email correspondence.
