RTP Company is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics headquartered in Winona, Minnesota. The Maintenance Technician routinely performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and components to ensure the continued safe, efficient, and effective operations of equipment used in the facility. This position also assists with maintaining parts inventory, organizing, and maintaining the maintenance shop, diagnosing equipment malfunctions and performs repairs. This position must be able to take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability and lifespan.
Work Schedule :
Monday-Thursday 3:00 PM to 1 AM. On call as needed. Responsibilities Completes routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshoots maintenance issues on standardized equipment Responds to production requests for immediate attention to production line breakdowns Assists in maintaining the organization of the maintenance shop and adequate parts inventory Documents work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc Communicates and collaborates with other departments, including production, warehouse, and quality, regarding the status of maintenance projects and needs Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods Ensures plant is maintained and in accordance with housekeeping policies and guidelines Follows and complies with all safety, work rules, and regulations Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues within a wide variety of machines such as relay logic and PLCs Working with hand and/or power equipment in a manufacturing setting Fabricating and repairing parts Responsible for planning, layout, installation and maintenance of complex equipment containing automatic controls, generating equipment, large switchboards, motors, rollers and complex gear reducers mandrels and other electrical and mechanical components Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent Skills and Abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work processes, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact with people in various positions and levels within the company Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently Must have effective time management skills Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors Must maintain a clean and safe workspace Must have a valid driver's license Must be available to work overtime as needed; with little, to no notice Must be able to pass a forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift. Ability to reference and understand blue prints and schematics for new construction and troubleshooting purposes. (i.e., Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic) Proficiency in setting up and operating shop machinery and hand tools such as drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder. etc. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed. Knowledgeable in electrical and electronic systems. Able to conduct circuit board diagnostics troubleshooting to install, adjust and debug components to resolve machinery Attendance is an essential function of the position. Must be able to read, write, and speak English Education and Experience Two-year technical degree in maintenance related field or a combination of education and experience Two years of experience as a Maintenance Technician preferred Plastic extrusion experience preferred Forklift and Scissor lift maintenance experience preferred Basic electrical knowledge preferred EOE, including disability/vets; All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
