Job Overview The Maintenance Multi-Craft Controls Technician is responsible for programming and troubleshooting all Programmable Logic Controls (Rockwell - Allen Bradley). This role is also responsible for completing preventative maintenance and responding to operational repair/troubleshooting requests on electrical and mechanical equipment; assisting with project work as assigned. Responsibilities Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Electrical Expert Troubleshoot, repair, and complete Preventative Maintenance on all PLCs at Fremont facility Interact with Engineering Department and other technical staff to implement process improvements and PLC-based projects Read and understand electronic and electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics; draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic components Maintain backup programs from all electrical devices Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solid-state motor drives, solid-state temperature controllers, and computer-based controllers Analyze and interpret data from Flame Management Systems. Provide support to the manufacturing processes by repairing and preventive maintenance on industrial equipment including electrical components, motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, compressors, chillers and boilers. Have a working knowledge and understanding of HAZMAT, MSDS, EPA, and OSHA requirements Good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff Must be multi-talented, extremely flexible in work assignments, willing to integrate into a closely knit team and self-motivated. Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair of all equipment Industrial Welding experience Interact with Engineering Department to implement process improvements Assist in new equipment installation Coordinate with purchasing department to maintain inventory and maintenance supplies Organization of all spare parts and shop supplies Assist in training of new personnel Coordinate with Safety Manager to enhance facility safety, including Lockout/Tagout, safety modifications and repairs, and safety work orders Perform Equipment Preventive Maintenance as assigned Perform and follow Lockout/Tagout Procedures Other projects and tasks as assigned Employee must be able to work other shifts and overtime to complete work as needed Employee must be willing to be on call to support production needs Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Required Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities Five + (5+) years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment Knowledge and abilities of Basic Electrical Controls (motor control, relay logic, etc.) Working knowledge of PLC technology and their associated software Working knowledge of motor drive systems (Powerflex 525, Powerflex 40) Knowledge of troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical skills (welding, torches, plasma cutter, pipe fitting, millwrighting, conduit running, wire pulling) Ability to operate hand tools and power tools Ability to safely operate forklifts Ability to function independently and as part of team Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment Strong communication skills Able to lift 50 lbs. and engage in other physical tasks Ability to read, interpret and analyze electrical/mechanical schematics, block diagrams, and flow charts Working knowledge of Fanuc Robotics Systems Good applied interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to read and comprehend basic English and perform basic math functions including reading a tape measure Ability to be self-motivated Ability to work from heights (ladders, manlifts,) and work in confined spaces.
