$28-40 DOE The Role The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs throughout the facility and on production machinery and equipment, ensuring all equipment remains safe, functional, and properly maintained. This position also assists with building and grounds maintenance as needed. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on production machinery and equipment. Provide rapid response to equipment downtime and mechanical issues affecting production. Collaborate with Production staff to troubleshoot equipment and production challenges and identify effective solutions. Minimize production downtime by following established repair priorities and maintenance schedules. Ensure unsafe or malfunctioning equipment is immediately removed from service until appropriate repairs are completed. Assist the Facility Maintenance Technician with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, dock doors, dock plates, trailer restraints, switch lights, pest control, and elevator-related maintenance. Collaborate with the Production Manager regarding maintenance expenditures to ensure maximum value when purchasing supplies, replacement components, and repair parts. Conduct parts inventory audits to ensure critical replacement parts are readily available and minimize equipment downtime. Coordinate with material-handling equipment vendors regarding forklift maintenance and repairs. Maintain flexibility to work variable shifts based on operational needs. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Qualifications & Requirements Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred. Knowledge of advanced mathematics. Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods. Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Ability to troubleshoot machinery and equipment and identify appropriate repair solutions. Ability to understand and follow advanced written and verbal instructions. Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional departments. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with employees, vendors, and other stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise sound judgment, work independently, and demonstrate initiative. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization. Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Physical Demands Level 4 - Heavy Work Occasionally exert 50-100 pounds of force, frequently exert 25-50 pounds, and consistently exert 10-20 pounds. Must be able to safely complete a 50-pound PILE test or greater. Ability to occasionally lift/lower 15-48 pounds, carry 20-48 pounds, and push/pull 48-68 pounds. Ability to perform physical activities including walking, sitting, changing positions, reaching, reaching across the midline, fingering, feeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs, using ramps and ladders, and grasping. Ability to lift, lower, and carry tools, equipment, pallets, and other materials, including lifting above shoulder height. Ability to frequently stand and handle, hold, grasp, seize, and turn objects. Ability to visually perceive small details at arm's-length distance. Work Environment Work may be performed in hot or cold environments and occasionally in cramped or uncomfortable positions. Work may require the use of ladders and access to elevated work areas. Regular interaction with employees, vendors, customers, and other personnel. Work is performed in an active manufacturing/production environment where adherence to established safety procedures is required.
