Job Description

A Maintenance Engineer Technician is responsible for keeping a facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. A Maintenance Technician will usually be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around a facility. Some other tasks a Maintenance Technician may be called upon to do include: Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door or wall repair Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems, such as using a sealant on a flat roof Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries Painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped Perform basic carpentry, painting, patching, caulking, and general repairs as needed. Assist with seasonal maintenance, including snow and ice removal, outdoor furniture, landscaping support, pools, and other exterior areas. Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, storage areas, and inventory in a clean and organized manner. Follow all hotel safety procedures and immediately report potential safety hazards. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, checklists, and work orders. Communicate effectively with Housekeeping, Front Desk, Food & Beverage, Events, and hotel leadership regarding maintenance needs and room status. Prioritize urgent guest-facing and safety-related repairs while effectively managing routine maintenance assignments. Protect hotel property and use equipment, tools, and supplies responsibly. Assist with emergency maintenance situations when necessary. Complete additional duties and projects as assigned by hotel management. Qualifications Previous hotel, property maintenance, facilities, construction, or similar experience preferred. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing stairs, and working both indoors and outdoors. The employee must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and pull items associated with normal hotel maintenance responsibilities and safely use ladders and maintenance equipment. Expectations All Wylder employees are expected to provide a welcoming and professional experience for our guests while maintaining the standards of the property. Maintenance team members are expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, communicate concerns promptly, complete required checklists and preventative maintenance, and help ensure the property remains safe, functional, clean, and guest-ready at all times. General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and preventative maintenance preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with other departments. Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency. Professional and respectful when interacting with guests, coworkers, vendors, and management. Must be dependable and able to report to scheduled shifts on time. Valid driver's license preferred. Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and during periods of inclement weather when required.
