$15-$30 per hour
Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday Overview Our Preventative Maintenance Mechanic / Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles and equipment. This position plays an important role in keeping customers' vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for the road. We are looking for a dependable team member who takes pride in quality workmanship, follows established maintenance procedures, and is interested in building a long-term career in the commercial trucking industry. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and preventative maintenance on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, trailers, and related equipment. Complete oil changes, lubrication services, filter replacements, tire rotations, and other scheduled maintenance. Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components. Perform minor mechanical, electrical, and cooling-system repairs. Service vehicle components, refrigeration equipment, lift gates, and trailers as assigned. Use diagnostic equipment, technical information, and company software to research, document, and complete repairs. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, parts, and repairs performed. Ensure vehicles are maintained according to company, manufacturer, and safety standards. Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, safe, and organized. Work with managers and experienced technicians to develop new skills through training and hands-on coaching. Take ownership of assigned work by addressing concerns promptly and identifying practical solutions. Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. General Knowledge and Skills You Will Need Basic knowledge of diesel engines and commercial vehicle maintenance. Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs safely and efficiently. Ability to read and understand instruction manuals, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic charts. Basic computer and data-entry skills; experience with diagnostic software is preferred. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to organize daily responsibilities and complete assigned work in a timely manner. Clear and respectful communication with coworkers, leadership, and customers. Commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment. Willingness to learn new systems, procedures, and repair techniques. Desired Education and Experience Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED. One (1) year of hands-on diesel mechanic, commercial vehicle maintenance, or related mechanical experience preferred. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record required. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred. Technical school, vocational training, or applicable industry certifications are a plus. Must possess personal mechanic's tools and a toolbox.
